Why doesn’t Louisiana restrict big rigs to the right lane?

I know most of them would just ignore this rule, but if it were enforced, it would reduce the number of traffic tie ups on freeways caused by wrecked trucks that take hours and hours to clear up.

A lot of areas do this where there are elevation changes. It’s safer. It helps facilitate more reliable freight movements by reducing the volatility of the highway network.

Women, Asians, and Texans in the right lane would be more effective and safer.

I wanted to make a thread today about this because it seems like on a three lane highway, big rigs are going 65 in the middle lane cause backups due to slow fricks trying to get around them taking their sweet arse time.

I get why they do it because if they are in the right lane it would impede off / on ramp traffic.

In general, big rigs, mini vans, and Prius are the reason why highways slow down.

Idk what Texans y’all get down there but here in DFW we run them off the road.

85 is normal here.

Because there’s nothing better than getting behind one passing another on the interstate. One going 64, and the other going 65.

Personal injury lawyers would revolt if highways were safer.

shite I'm a Texan that gets pissed at all the slow people in the left lane. 18 wheelers should be fined for passing another for going 2 miles an hour slower .

Because there are too many Mexico nationals driving 45 in the right lane pulling their salvaged cars back without proper paperwork that would restrict the big rigs.

Not practical with only two travel lanes.

Need to at least let them pass in middle lane.

Can't do that with two lanes.

Because truck drivers are the ones working with time regulations and governed speeds - I told everyone this would get worse with the electronic log mandate but nobody wanted to listen. As long as they're going above the minimum speed (usually 45 mph), tough titties.

You can't restrict big rigs to the right lane only. The problem is people who ride the left lane. The only time you should be in the left lane is to overtake a vehicle or vehicles in the right lane you are going faster than. Once you do this than get over to the right lane I don't understand how so many drivers do not understand that simple fricking concept. I am coming home next week from Germany and I am dreading having to drive with these idiots that do not know how to drive on an interstate.

They restrict everyone to the right lane, it’s just not well-enough enforced.

18 wheeler drivers definitely don’t. It causes a lot of problems.

I see more old men in trucks doing 65 in the left lane than truckers riding the lane. Regaurdless of the vehicle if you are not passing you need to get over to the right.
