This is the problem. There are too many drivers in this state who want to Lolly gag in the right lane going 15 - 20 mph under the speed limit, as if they have nowhere to go. When you drive in other states, you can actually use the right lane. I personally get tired of constantly having to switch lanes to pass and usually end up in the left lane. I will get over though, to let somebody pass.

Truckers are the problem.

When 4 wheelers crash, a lane shuts down. We’ve had the freeway shut down for 12+ hours in Baton Rouge to clear up truck accidents.

When four wheelers pass each other, it’s over in a few seconds. It takes tricks 15 minutes and dozens of miles to do that.

It’s an economic and health/safety imperative to restrict trucks to slower speeds and right lanes only.

I totally agree with that rule and it drives me crazy. Working waaaaaay out in west texas and having a 12 hr drive home, it drives me crazy when 18 wheelers do this. Im in left lane passing up slow cars and a big rig pulls out in front and then takes like 10 years to pass and get out of the f'ing way. Once or twice ok but by the time i get to the louisiana border, they have done it 20+ times and i an ready to choke a mf. All i can say to them is stay in the slow lane you cksking mf pos aholes. If you are going to get in the left lane, then drive in it like you got a mf'ing set and not a vag. Stay in the right lane. Pulling out in the left and then taking 10 years to pass causing 30+ vehicles behind you to pile up is not cool at all and indeed causes accidents.

The law should be, only right lane and if you do get in the left lane to pass, you make sure there is no one for miles in the left lane for you to impede them when you get in the left lane. If you do get in the left lane and there ends up being over 5 vehicles behind you that you back up, should be automatic $1500 fine for impeding traffic.

Normally when an ahole 18wheeler cuts me off in left lane and goes slow, when they finally get in the right lane, i pass them up and then go f'ing slow. they cant get in left lane to pass me due to all the f'ing vehicles that have accumulated behind them when they were taking 10 years to pass while in the left lane. Finally after i am going really slow and the vehicles pass, they get in the left lane again to pass and that is when i then speed up. They want to be an ahole, i can be a bigger one. Wish those aholes would drive like they got a set of balls between their legs and not a vag.

You should see on the interstate when they start getting sprinkles of rain. They all lose their mind and start going 45 on the interstate in a 80 mph zone. Drive mofos, drive.

It doesn't make ANY sense....65 and instant ticket if they use another lane.

It would benefit them (because wrecks aren't just the rig drivers fault) and regular drivers.

Big rigs passing other big rigs on an incline should be a death warrant for truckers.

Not racist at all.

On I-10 west in BR, trucks have to be in the right lane of the curve before the MRB. To do that, they have to get into the center lane of I-10 before the curve. And BR traffic being what it is, trucks have to take any opportunity they can get to get into that center lane.

The truck drivers that somehow avoid causing a horrific accident still gets stuck in traffic caused by horrific truck accidents.

They would benefit from restrictions too.

Why restrict them when you can sue them out of existence or at least out of the state?

I know most of them would just ignore this rule, but if it were enforced, it would reduce the number of traffic tie ups on freeways caused by wrecked trucks that take hours and hours to clear up.

A lot of areas do this where there are elevation changes. It’s safer. It helps facilitate more reliable freight movements by reducing the volatility of the highway network.

Probably already been covered in this thread, but many tractors are governed, some as low as 61 mph. If you restrict tractors to the right lane only, there will be lines of big rigs stacked in the right lane from the Sabine to the Pearl.

It will make merging incredibly dangerous for cars, and will lead to accidents.

frick them. They dont need to pass anyone. They can camp out in the right lane at 45 for all I care

Or 18 wheelers could just stop driving into Louisiana at all.

If you need anything at all, you access it from a railroad or you go frick yourself.

Most 18 wheelers have dash cams. You brake check one and get hit, you'll be liable.

Good luck, you're a dangerous driver.

This is the kind of attitude that justifies draconian restrictions on big rigs.

Impatient and stupid big rig drivers cause trucks to jackknife and turn over.

I like the idea of restrictions. No one is getting through Louisiana fast. The morons behind the wheel of 40 ton trucks should GTFO of the left lane, and use their political power to push for wider roads.

It the 18 wheelers that take 10 miles to pass that jam up traffic . If they stayed In the right lane things would be easier.

We have the exact same issues with them in Pennsylvania and everyone else I’ve lived.

It’s as if they think their load getting there 10 seconds faster is more important that your safety.

If they can’t stop, accelerate, or change lanes like a typical vehicle, they have no business in the left lane.
