Normal hints that this is the way things are always going to be. This isn’t normal. This is something that will pass and well go back to what normal really is. I hate so much how much the media is driving things and freaking people out and giving absolutely zero hope. I get these guidelines/restrictions are needed for the time being. This isn’t something that is going to become “normal” where we’re doing this on a permanent basis or even on a rotating basis. And lord help us if it is.

Some things will likely continue. Plenty of retail stores have installed sneeze guards, changed procedure on handing things over, etc. Wouldn't shock me to see some of those things stick around.

On a micro level Things won’t go back to normal for a while. On a macro level, things will never be quite the same.

Yea but that’s not really things that change the daily way of living. The way I see things talked about news outlets are talking like this state of lockdown is supposed to be a “new normal.” I know the media is scummy and pushing for ratings and this shouldn’t be surprising (and it’s not) but it’s just frustrating that the one thing most of the population needs right now is hope. Yet we’re getting this.

Because the average American can't comprehend life past the next couple days. Or, for that matter, past the present hour. We are a "right now" society, evidenced by the endless social media posts about mundane bullshite, the 24 hour news cycle, and the expectations of instant gratification.
Most people are so wrapped up in their individual world that they can not fathom the future of the whole.

This is the normal that Dems want. They like forcing people to stay home and wait on their govt check.

The problem is going back to what normal was. We've proven that certain things can be done differently and better but most will still go back to what was "normal"

When the internet was invented there was a new normal. When smallpox vaccine there was a new normal. Now their is Coronavirus. There will be a new normal. Much of it will be companies having more liberal work from home policies due to the new normal that internet created. At some point there might be a Covid-19 vaccine that we are required to get every 5 years. That would be a new normal.

Why are you afraid of change bro. Mix it up sometimes. That vanilla ice cream is amazing when you add a brownie and fudge and caramel and nuts on it.

I remember hearing that term as early as 03/16/2020 from the talking heads on TV. It was quickly made into a common term by the MSM across all forms of media.

That phrase throws me into a rage. You have to be a terminal peckerwad to use it.
