Let me know when people from all over the world come to run in a marathon in the south.

Louisiana marathon has had runners from 32 different countries and all 50 states. Of course it is in January so all the sissies from up north and other countries can handle it without dying from the 90 degree temps in the spring or fall.

I've never seen a "heat advisory" up here,

Schools and businesses closed when it got into the mid-90's while I was in PA. Also, lots of Northern drivers can't handle snow. Rather be in the south where people will just stay home if possible rather than deal with people who think 4-wheel-drive is going to bail them out of their crappy driving habits.

Says the guy that is trying to defend a northern marathon giving a heat advisory in the 70s. Who then tried to say that only young and healthy people from the south run marathons in the south. Which is why marathons in the south don't give heat advisories.

It's okay. Your whole argument is stupid.

So like I said. Let me know when a marathon in the south gives out a heat advisory in the 70s.

Why did 700 people die in a three day heat wave in Chicago in 1995? Because they're pussies? C'mon dude, the reason that snow shuts down the South is obvious.

The same reason that a tropical storm and an inch of water shuts the Northeast down.

Most people in the North don't either and I've never known anybody to use snow chains outside of mountainous areas. My parents just got around 6 inches of snow and drove to work in their cars.

Because if governments bought tens of millions worth of equipment to deal with occasional snow, it would sit in the road barn 99% of the time and people would rightly bitch about wasted tax dollars.

So now warning runners to hydrate and be vigilant because it's warmer than usual for a 26.2 mile run is the same as shutting down government offices and schools for the threat of an inch of snow?

Ok then.

as has been said. just are not equipped or experienced enough to deal with it. same reason "super storm sandy" or what we call it "not even a hurricane sandy" totally shut down the northeast. just are not equipped to deal with it. Lose power up there for a while and folks freak. Lose power here a while and folks cook out, hang out, drink whiskey, and make babies.
