Unlike Nazi Germany, the German Empire had an actual chance of winning WW1. The German Empire faced tougher opponents and didn’t lose the war with Berlin falling to the Allies. However, it seems to be like Nazi Germany is more popular to talk about.

I would add it also seems like Nazi Germany overshadows any discussion over the Pacific campaign too, which should be odd for us here in the US.

Stalin was one of the "good guys", though.

Military wise they are both fascinating subjects. Some incredibly talented soldiers and tacticians in their ranks

WWI more than WWII imo. Hitler was an anchor for the Nazis.

Had the Clown Prince not pushed so hard on Verdun, I think the Germans could have defeated the French in WWI.

I kind of disagree… but get your point… the atomic bombs dropped on Japan… probably the singular most important event… it set the stage of world politics now…

Hitler took France in just two months and conquered almost all of mainland Europe within two years. Germany's battle with France wasn't much more than a stalemate for most of WW1. Yeah, he made some strategic errors that ultimately cost him the war, but that doesn't diminish what he was able to do in such a rapid fashion.

Besides the obvious, the leap in technology from 1 to 2 is a big reason as well. WW1 was fought on horseback and trenches that only moved yards in years.

When WW2 came, everything from planes, ships, and ground had evolved into something more modern that people can relate to. Plus with TV and film there's footage of pretty everything from the war.

Besides being a military power, the German Empire of 1914 was also an economic and demographic force. After the United States and the entire British Empire, Germany was the third economy of the World. It had a large manufacturing base and was the third and respectively the second producer of coal and iron. The German Empire also had the best railway system in Europe, which permitted it to move fast the men and the materials across the country. Despite all money invested, in 1939 the Wehrmacht wasn’t a fully mechanized army, unlike 1914 Germany.

in 1939 Germany had lower chances to win the World War than the 1914 Germany. The only reasons why they managed to conquer so many countries is the high quality of the Wehrmacht superior Officers Manstein, Model, Guderian, Rundstedt, and Hoth and the mistakes made by their adversaries.
