Why does it take some people so long to use an ATM?

Seriously? How hard is it? You put your card in, enter your pin, take care of your shite, get your card and money and drive off. I’ve been in line behind this guy for 10 minutes now.

You would think Darwin would have eliminated these idiots by now.

because they can't drive well enough to get within arm's reach of the keypad

I know where you're coming from because those are the types I always manage to get behind in line.

They insert their card, put in their pin, or what they think is their pin, get rejected and do it again with mixed results.

I especially love the women who have to just about climb out their car to reach the damn keypad because they park so far from the machine to begin with.

They probably don't have a lot of money and/or online banking. Checking balances, transferring between accounts, getting denied, etc. takes time for the machine.

They're probably having a worse day than you. It's 10 minutes.

I deposited 2 checks and withdrew $100 in 1/3rd of the time it took him. It’s frickin ridiculous.

I will sometimes have the misfortune to get behind an older person, usually women set in their ways who want to still write checks for their groceries.

Usually I don't have a problem with this, but when they wait until all the groceries are totaled up, bagged and put in their cart---they reach in their purse to pull out their checkbook. THEN start writing the check instead of having it already filled out except for the amount of purchase. And this is coming from a guy who's 65 and retired.

Have you ever noticed that everyone moving slower than you in line is a dumbass and everyone moving faster than you is an impatient a-hole?

While you may have a handful of legitimately dumb people sprinkled in there, I don't think classifying everyone as idiots is really necessary. Depending where you go, some ATMs are inconsistent with their interface or function slowly/not at all.

Age 50+ it's probably a technological illiteracy deal. Maybe the person moves slower as cognitive decline sets in, maybe their vision is bad, maybe they have arthritis. Who knows?

Younger than 25 I'd say most millennials don't regularly need/use cash, so they're probably unfamiliar with using ATMs and therefore aren't proficient with them.

Can't begin to figure out why checking out is such a hard process. Don't get me started on them ordering food.

Or the old lady with the giant boobs that she has to open the car door to do her full banking business. My GF (no pics) alerted me to that one.

If I didn't work inside one there would be absolutely no reason for me to visit a bank. I carry a little cash and if I need more I just get cash back at the store.
