Fugit. It costs more to execute one of those turds than it does to lock them up for life. All the automatic appeals have sky high costs. Now THAT sucks.

Why does it have to be instant? Nitrogen would be painless. Criminal would pass out due to lack of oxygen. Painless.

I’ve always wondered why we don’t use nitrogen asphyxiation as well. Painless, low probability of failure, and cheap. It wouldn’t even require much nitrogen as long as you administered it through a mask.

My only guess is that there might be safety concerns for the “executioners” since it’s done indoors. But I would think you can mitigate that with O2 monitors in the room.

I kinda think if there were public hangings the crime rate would be lower.

A couple hundred years ago, England carried the death penalty (by hanging) for pickpocketing.

Pickpockets were well known to work the crowds while they were distracted watching the hangings of other pickpockets.

I once again nominate another user's idea of pulling them behind a boat off coast of South Africa as bait for death from below.

Because it looks the least gruesome for the people watching.

There are lots of ways to lower the crime rate. Most of them are shitty- like public hangings are.

You’ve already used this line today in a separate thread. You need new material breh.

Awe inspiring to see the cranes in Teheran´s central plaza. The anti US graffiti, not so much.

The old gas chamber just produced a pleasant smell of toasted almonds before the next step. No specialty chemicals required that are difficult to purchase either.

This is why. Somebody has to get that government contract for $10,000 a dose.

Follow the money.

This is always to be expected in these conversations, and lazy.

Most of the drugs used are generic drugs and very cheap.

Or are you somehow unaware of just how many people have been exonerated from death row?

.

Reason #233 to get rid of capital punishment. I’m not against it in theory. But I’d rather 10k murderers sit in prison for life than have one innocent person executed.

Amen! I have been telling people this for years. I once heard a testimonial by a guy I worked with that passed out in a tank that inadvertently had a nitrogen purge line put into instead of an air line. He collapsed within maybe 20 sec and he said all he remembers was this nirvana high before he passed out. He had no sense of needing to self rescue. He was fortunate that he collapsed at the manway entrance of the tank and someone pulled him out immediately by the harness. Ever since they started having all these issues with the other methods of capital punishment I thought how simple it would be to do nitrogen suffocation.

Hanging was the most humane form and worked 100% of the time.

Drop them from a height and neck snaps. Dead.

Guillotine is solid too but gruesome

Firing squad does not equal gun to your head. Also, numerous people have been shot point blank and survived (my own uncle shot himself in the temple and survived and died on the table a few hours later).

Ok, so put a shotgun to the head. This isn’t complicated stuff. Firing squad is pretty quick though.

Guillotine always seemed like a quick, painless way to go. I vote we bring that back

Insert obligatory joke

quote:

A priest, lawyer, and engineer are about to be executed by guillotine.

The priest puts his head in but the blade doesn’t fall. He proclaims god has saved him, and is let go.

The lawyer is next, and again the blade doesn’t fall. He states that he can not be charged more than once for the same crime, so he is also let go.

The engineer puts his head into the path of the blade, but the blade still doesn’t fall.

He looks up and says, “Oh. I see your problem.”
