Well we would have been pretty fricked if there wasn’t a Gramercy Bridge after the Sunshine Bridge was crashed into.

IMO a bridge over the river is NEVER a bad thing because of how much the river restricts travel.

It was just there last time I took that bridge. This was around new years. Paint for the lanes looked fresh too

You could ferry the number of cars that cross those two bridges

Is Gramercy the bridge that for the longest time had the super structure but no approaches built?

No denying they could use another bridge in Baton Rouge though.

Unfortunately, by the time they build a new one, they will need another one that will lag by decades so our grandchildren suffer as we do now.

I’m sorry my post about bridges has triggered the frick out of you.

But it’s going to be okay.

You can still have a good day.

I think it always had approaches but it went to nowhere. Apparently the road has been extended to other roads now and a traffic light has been added as well.

How old is that photo of the Gramercy Bridge? I legitimately never knew it didn't connect to 3127 at some point. I'm pretty much 50/50 between Gramercy and Sunshine to go back to Houma from BR.

At least the Audubon Bridge makes some sense because without that bridge, the next bridge north after Hwy 190 would be in Natchez...an hour and a half away. Sunshine Bridge and I-310 bridge are only about half that distance.

Are there still a good number of ferries?

The bridge usta be called the bridge to no where it dead ended on both ends above the levees. When they finally built ramps we called the west bank the Vacherie kiss cause the turn backs looked like lips. Now that it connects to 3127 complete with a shiny new red light its nice for us west bankers. We cross there and go to airline or I 10 quickly and it cuts our travel time lots.

The problem with another bridge in Baton Rouge is the infrastructure needed where the new bridge is nowhere close to being able to support that traffic.

All it's going to do is create a traffic nightmare around where it will cross.

I don't mind the Grammercy bridge, there are enough plants there to warrant access across the river for land for people to build homes and communities. It also provide a route north in case of hurricanes without having to funnel up I10 and Airline with every other baw coming out of New Orleans.

While there are a couple of plants around the Audubon, it doesn't really fulfill the evacuation aspect as in such a situation LA 1 and US 61 would end up being equally viable. It may even make things worse for the people on the west side as people going north on 61 might cross the river to see if LA 1 has less traffic (and since it's all 2-lane, it would jam up faster in such a scenario).

Not only that but the Audubon bridge was built when LADOTD knew full well another bridge was more needed for Baton Rouge.

Thanks.

Seems like Gramercy does carry a decent amount and serves a range of purposes.
