Why are New Orleans posters so dismissive of what’s clearly a huge and growing problem?

Be clear about what you’re implying please.

The FQ does have a very unique odor, like someone just took a dump five feet from you, every time I’ve been.

Do as you please and hang out in Nola. When you or your family becomes a victim then don’t complain and bitch.

It has always been New Orleans’ biggest flaw. The great people that live there constantly excuse the shite that outnumbers them under the guise of culture.

Probably because people have a minimum expectation of safety in this country and New Orleans is way above people’s risk threshold, especially for the few unique things the city offers.

I lived there 2010-2011. I was off work by 2PM most days and this 10yo would walk my block when I got home. I ended up talking to him as he would try to bum cigarettes off me. Eventually on his 11th birthday he shot a man down the street from me in broad daylight as part of his gang initiation. I moved the next weekend and will never return to the city.

I thought the same thing a couple weeks ago when my dad was trying to talk me and my wife out of going.

Then I went and saw it first hand and have no intention of going back unless things get better. Nothing happened to us thankfully but I’m not risking it again.

My parents lived in NOLA their whole life - neighborhood went to shite in less than 10 years. I was afraid for their life and convinced them to move out. They did and never looked back. I’m pretty street smart but it got where I was scared to take my family to see them. It is bad and you can stick you head in the sand if you want to but most people see what’s happening. I went to Jesuit vs Catholic State Championship game at Tulane Stadium and it was like a third world country around there. I couldn’t wait to get my family out of there.

The World Star type video of a burn out and donut contest on Canal at 1am on a Friday is all I need to see.

Mid 90’s it was like Minority Report. If I thought about pissing on a building a cop popped up.

Big weekends you couldn’t go 20 feet without NOPD or a Sheriff or a cop from any LA city or Parrish working “second job” security help.

My days in rural Louisiana had a girl kidnapped and murdered less than a mile from my house, a fellow schoolmate had one of this grandparents murdered, the other just shot in the face (by a serial killer), multiple people killed over drugs, and someone gunned down at my high school (granted several years before).

People flocked there because it was safe. Still do.

It's what you make of it, or believe it to be.

Out of all of those white people crawling around New Orleans, only 12 were murdered in New Orleans in 201

I'm not white and say its a shithole and people should absolutely steer clear if they can help it.

Doesn't matter if you're white or not. its a fricking crime ridden shithole and anyone defending it is a fricking retard - and since your post is about white people, white people defending it are the most retarded of all.

I think most of us can admit there’s a crime problem.

A lot of what you see is people being defensive because how insistent this site especially is that everyone who comes to the city will die.

Yes there’s a lot of crime. Yes there’s a lot of hyperbole.
