And a state of the art, fully functioning pumping system to protect that expensive real estate.

I see from your bio that you reside in Boston, MA... Would you agree that the electorate of Boston and Massachusetts are smarter and elect better people than that of New Orleans and Louisiana?

After 25 years in Louisiana I still believe southern hospitality is a myth

Who cares?

Bc if he didn’t live in Nola, you’d automatically claim his opinion doesn’t matter or based on ignorance Bc he’s never lived there

Southern hospitality is a real thing...just not in New Orleans as much as people think.

I just can't figure out why mouth breathers get so much joy and satisfaction slamming Nola and declaring it a shithole. It's better than 99% of the rest of this ignorant cesspool of a state.

I hear shite hole used a lot, but can't figure out why 10 million people decided to visit here last year with more to come next year.
How is it that a shite hole has built all of these new condos and urban developments as well has almost every neighborhood going through gentrification. As a result real estate prices are soaring because people are wanting to live here.

It has problems no doubt, but it's not a 90% welfare queen project living shithole like many try to claim.

This is the attitude that is going to hold New Orleans back. I like to visit the city, but I'd never live there. Politicians don't do anything, you're not safe in neighborhoods that are 1MM plus to get in, and you're literally hours away from losing everything you have due to rain. No reasonable person would say the city doesn't have many redeeming qualities; the food, fun, and culture are great. That doesn't mask the glaring problems the city has, and residents would rather argue how great it is and how stupid everyone that disagrees with them is rather than fix it's problems.

Because I lived there, and your statement
quote:

So does every city in America of any size (particularly in the east and south).
is so wrong it's sad.

Other cities appreciate their citizens. Your statement means you are either a shill for city hall or your life has been so miserable that you haven't looked elsewhere.

Not everywhere has the moral compass of New Orleans. Thank heavens. We still have friends there, and one of them hasn't really recovered from some of the trauma he went through with Katrina and ;s having problems making decisions. Others have plans to leave, and many already have.

Before you snark, we were residents of and paid taxes in Orleans Parish. Not the burbs, not in condos.

Other places are so much better. Open your eyes, man.

Dumbass. Bourbon is one street in the city and really doesn't get pissed on except during Mardi Gras when the stupid trash comes to town

The thing that pisses me off about New Orleans is that it may be one of the only “big” cities in the South with real character, history, and culture. You can’t build that. A city either has it or it doesn’t.

And New Orleans does.

Yet it’s ruined and overshadowed by absolute incompetence that has left a city in wallowing in its own filth.

It pisses me off the same way a kid with all the talent in the world throws his life away over something dumb.

I completely agree. Nola should be one of the best places in the country to live. The crime, culcha and corruption keep it from being what it could be.

NOLA is like a Maserati.

Looks good, it's unique, but it's just a giant pile of dysfunction and expensive problems.

That's because drunk tourists piss in the quarter. You should venture uptown.

I’m almost 60 and was in the quarter last night - not bourbon st. There were tens of thousands of people out. Friday night I was uptown and down mag st. Tens of thousands of people out. It’s as happening place as I’ve ever seen. Much better than Los Angeles and Chicago and Houston. It’s got perfectly centralized entertainment zones
