re: Why do so many people get butt hurt about others working from home?

Because spending 40+ hours in an office each week is pointless.
Not to mention the hours and money wasted commuting.
My wife and I went down to 1 car because frankly in a year and a half she put 4,000 miles on hers. I work from home and she’s a teacher and her school is literally across the street. There’s really no need for a second car for 99% of our time and the 1% time maybe we need a second we make due.

Same people working from home were saying schools need o open and teachers need to teach in person. Technically they can teach from home so why not?

Because it won’t be effective for the majority of the grade school population.

Terrible comparison

Then why is IT ALWAYS the first group to go over seas? Why wouldn’t accounting? Why wouldn’t any job that can be done solely from the comfort of your home NOT go to cheaper wages

If you can work from home someone in India can do your job.
You may not believe this statement but many corporate leaders do believe it.
Not if you're client facing or in leadership of a department that is client facing.
I never said it was the smart thing to do but it is happening today and they are taking good jobs. Engineering, Accounting, IT including health IT. Seems sketch to send Americans health info overseas... They are importing labor too, I see some facilities only hiring and recruiting H1B visas because they don't want to pay Americans.

i would argue wfh people get just as butt hurt about any (valid or not) criticism of wfh
Mostly because the criticism is coming from jerkoffs with little to no remote work experience, and their “information” is gleaned from others who likely were forced into a remote working situation with little to no preparation due to COVID.

The notion that working from home automatically equals “you don’t do shite and have a worthless job” is quite laughable to me.
I understand why it works for some people, I just didn't like it. But if you're one that thrives in that environment, kudos.

Some of our clients specifically include in their T&C's that data can't be offshored
All of ours do, but “durr” my job is going to be “sent to India”

I didn’t know outsourcing jobs overseas was a post 2020 concept?

What health systems are okay with sending phi abroad?

ETA: I have seen some help desk situations where the IT person responsible for assigning the ticket doesn’t have access to any PHI, so I guess it would work for that, but I doubt many healthcare systems are knowingly sending PHI abroad. I know Deloitte lost a couple bids because they were trying to outsource some work and the clients were obviously opposed to that. Not sure if they’re still trying to do that or what.

I've been WFH since 2005 and, as far as I know, no one has ever expressed any butt-hurt about it; though there are lots of misconceptions. Not everyone has the space, discipline, attitude for it and not everyone wants to WFH, but I'm a lot more productive than I was in an office full time. But there's no free lunch: it can be very isolating, it's not as easy to walk down the hall to push someone to get around to what you're waiting on them for, and it's harder to separate the home/work line.
All that said, I wouldn't go back to a full time outside office and have turned down offers that were contingent on that environment.

It 100% equals a little more laziness, some naps, playing with the dog, and beating off.

It’s been since 2011 for me, I haven’t met anyone in real life that is butthurt about it, at least none that have said anything to me about it. I doubt anyone who I hang out with really cares, if anything I’ll get comments from people being jealous, but not in a butthurt way, just more of “I wish I could work from home” way.

What’s hilarious is that everyone who thinks this way, just assumes that everyone else is as lazy and shiftless as they are .
You are 100% projecting your OWN lack of motivation onto the rest of us .

I've already told you but you'll just ignore it because you don't like the answer
