Why do so many people fail to understand the left-lane rules?

1. The left lane is for passing only. (Do not continuously drive in the left lane)
2. For safety reasons, the speed in the left lane must be at least 4mph faster than the speed of the right lane. (Regardless of the posted speed limit)
3. Move right as soon as you can. (Do not impede traffic)
Yet, every time I get on a highway, there's a collection of oblivious dipshits that think the lane is for cruising.

if you want to improve traffic, stop putting your brakes on to let people enter the damn freeway. keep it moving. it's their fricking job to get on. not yours to move out of the fricking way or brake to let them in.

This is the type of stuff that i assume befuddles my chauffeur. Seeing as how i rarely converse with laypeople i cannot confirm nor deny.

When the state of Alabama can maintain an interstate to where the right lane isn't filled with potholes, grooves, and patchwork, I'll drive in the right lane. Until then, I stay left unless someone is coming up behind me and then I will move over to let them pass.

It isn't that they fail to understand the rules. They don't even know the rules and on top of that are oblivious of everything around them. Zero situational awareness.

1. They don't understand it's a rule
2. Due to the nature of the left lane, it's less congested. They think it's a better decision to ride in the left lane b/c of #1.

How about the drivers in the northern Great Plains who habitually hold speed and move onto the pullover area which is well paved to let speeding cars pass . This happens on two lane roads

Better question is why do you whiners need to start 3-5 threads complaining about the same thing every week.
Get used to the fact that if I need to pass someone I will use the left lane and I do not drive 15-20 mph over the limit. So when you fly up behind me and start flashing your lights and blowing your horn while having a conniption fit in driver seat of whatever your wife or GF allows you to drive just know I don't care if you're inconvenienced by my follow the laws. Get over it or pass me in the median. I'll move back into the right lane when I'm finished passing the traffic. And acting like a jackass will usually cause me to drive a little more cautions and slowly.
