Wanna be rednecks who are afraid of the real world. Point blank.

I have had this same conversation so many times with coworkers , and friends, over the years. It's almost always with people who live on the outskirts of BR.They hate BR, too. Their reasoning is based on a lack of appreciation, or comprehension, of history and culture.

They also cannot reason that the only reason they have the ability to live their comfortable life between the modern world, and their beloved mud pits, fishin holes, and deer stands, is because of the metropolitan area around them.

Good job Ramrod, this is the part where they get butthurt.

if anyone's butthurt, it's Ramrod. He has an obsession with New Orleans. It's laughable. He'll say anything to try and discredit it. He also sounds no more than 16 years old in general.

There are some idiots from BR who dont like Nola because they are close minded fools. But as a person born and raised in BR who now lives in Nola, there are far more Nola people who are elitist and look down on BR. Sometimes when I say I am from BR you would think i told them I grew up in Bangladesh

This was quite literally my only gripe with living in New Orleans, as a BR native. There is quite a bit of elitism from the Nola folks that have been there for generations (or not even generations).

That said, I have every intention of moving back there after school.

I know. Sometimes when my wife, a Nola born and bred, introduces me we both flinch because we know we are going to get some comment or reaction.

No worries. I know it's not the norm by any means. Just a few people here and there that bug me a little.

I have lived in BR my entire life and really enjoy N.O.
I don't have any friends that dislike N.O. To try and compare the two cities is silly.

It doesnt bother me. Like i said, there are my fellow BR people who are just as ignorant against Nola. But that is what it stems from on both sides, ignorance

They haven't had a beautiful day drinking in courtyard uptown. Or had wine at Bacchanal on a nice spring night. Danced their arse off on Frenchmen Street. Caught Rebirth at the Maple Leaf.

This is the problem with NOLA in a nutshell to me. It doesn't seem to offer much outside of drinking and partying.

I know people from the Northshore that went to LSU that now eat red beans/rice every Monday, talk with a different accent and "make groceries".

Why is it ignorance? Can't people just dislike something? There are many people who don't like Baton Rouge, but it doesn't hurt my feelings.

How long has it been since you have lived here?
And I agree with the earlier point about lacking some outdoor sporting compared to some cities, but cmon man.

I think you have that backwards. You can't have a large metropolitan area without food being trucked in from the agricultural areas. Without farmlands there could be no cities.

Maybe that was because I was 22-23 and all we did was drink

ETA: I would choose NOLA over any other southern city outside of Austin. That would be a toss up to me personally
