I figure it is because the soldiers have nothing to do (which is true)
If by boring you mean surrounded by golf courses and Toledo Bend, Vernon and Anacoco lakes not to mention the Sabine river and many creeks like Anacoco and Prairie were you can catch clear cold water Kentucky red eyed bass and white perch all day long yea its pretty boring here. Not even to mention the best of southern manners and people. Yea not yalls cup of tea. Gods country in my book. Not to mention pot grows really well here for some strange reason.

I don't fish, so don't really care about 50% of what you listed. And there are golf courses everywhere.

If filthy strip joints, dive bars, and payday and title loan places are your thing...but at least they did add a turn lane on 171.

Leesville hits that "sweet spot" of apathy.
Its just big enough to have a few things you can do in town. But they either don't build things people want or the places they do are very mediocre.
Its close to Sportsman Paradise. So outdoorsman have a getaway.
