Obviously, most or all of the responders here have never lived with a teacher. They do not work a 8 to 4 job. They have to grade papers and make lesson plans after they get home. There is no overtime pay for it either. They have to deal with horrible kids and their idiotic unrealistic parents. Time off during holidays is partly spent on making plans for upcoming crap that they teach kids. Teachers are way under paid considering what they do for a living and what a difference they make in kid's lives. They still do it because they have a love for kids and being difference makers. My mother was a teacher for 25 years. So all of you idiots talking shite indirectly about my mother, go frick yourselves.

I like the teaching part. I just don't like dealing with the two or three disruptive kids in each class who have parents who either don't give a crap, make excuses for their kid, or are controlled by their kid. The good kids make up for it though. Focus on the positive.

I'll add that I hate certain liberal teacher unions like LAE and the Louisiana Federation of Teachers.

It's nice having this week off, but I spent the morning doing lesson plans. People also don't realize that we have to spend some of our off time doing "professional development" (which is usually boring and useless).

teachers have a right, here's why.

How many of you shite talkers are posting on the internet at work? How many of you get to take smoke breaks? How many of you get only 10 minutes to eat your lunch? How many of you have to deal with ignorant parents who blame the teachers instead of themselves or their own children?

Teachers are forced to WORK - every minute they are at work. They are stuck in a box, with 20 little kids either not listening or asking dumb questions all day long. Teachers cannot answer their phones at school. Teachers do not get to surf and play on forums. They do not get to play facebook on their phones. They are actually "ON" the entire day. The typical worker spends half their time frickING OFF, not actually working.

Oh yeah, teachers basically have 3-4 hours of work at home every night, between lesson planning, homework and grading papers. But yeah, they do get those 10 weeks off for summer

I am teacher who never complains. I am enjoying my week off. Then I go back for 5 weeks and get two months off. Life is good.

You are right some teachers complain way too much.

I understand the grade papers part, but why do they have to constantly develop new lesson plans?

Because kids suck. I'd probably complain if I had to put up with a bunch of kids' shite all day.

Teachers work 180 days a year. Most teachers teach about 5 hours of a school day.
Come retirement you get paid for life.

I don't see many teachers on the OT complaining, but monthly a "why do teachers complain so much" thread is up.

I'm not bitching, I'm just explaining. Don't forget that teachers also don't get to collect any Social Security even if their spouses work their entire lives and contribute and pass away before they do. I'd sure as hell not be a teacher and my mother never recommended anyone be one either. She is no hypocrite.
