That’s why I run against the flow of traffic. That way I can see what is about to hit me.

Meh. I’m in a very love/hate relationship with running right now. Ran the OKC marathon last April. Was in shape for 2:40-2:45 based on my workouts. Got sick leading up to it and then ran like a complete retard and blew up. Haven’t been able to get out of a funk with running since then. Decided to force myself to do something aerobic (preferably running but will bike inside if the weathers crappy) every day this year. Kinda starting to like it a little again so we’ll see where that takes me.

Why do you people not run on designated Tracks???

A lot of tracks are not open when I need them to be. Most high school tracks around here are closed. ASH's track is open, but have you ever ran the same .25 mile loop 40 times? Gets pretty boring, and also defeats one of the main purposes of running, which is to have fun and be out and about.

I don't get this. The goal is to get runners off of the same piece of asphalt as cars. Fixing infrastructure is too costly for Louisianians. Maybe the most effective long-term strategy should be focusing on the people who are wielding the multi-ton weapons as if they are invincible? I'd argue there will be second and third order effects to ensuring drivers are less deadly than there would be discouraging runners.

The root of the issue is this country, and particularly this state, need to be less reliant on vehicles. A lot of this state is incredibly fat, lead sedentary lives, and drink and smoke all day, and then ask for prayers when they have cancer, as if God did something to them and their own poor choices had nothing to do with it.

Too far gone. I exercise… a lot, but I still rely on my car for everything. Because I have to

Every park I've been to with running trails have loops so you can run a hundred miles if you want to, all contained within the park.

I always run in the left lane facing traffic and move over as necessary or jump off the road if two cars are passing each other at the same time. I had a friend whose dad was hit by a car and killed while running on the road.

If I can utilize a sidewalk or track at the local high school I will always take those options.

I know runners who look old and beat up

But it’s pretty obviously from the sun, not running itself.

Dude, we spend all our years teaching kids not to play in the road, and you are just bound and determined to put yourself in danger.

If you what to run on a wide road that's not being used and has good visibility, have at it.

But get the hell off the road when you see or hear a vehicle coming. Too many people distracted people and don't want you to end up a greasy spot on the asphalt

Some people like to go to Vegas to gamble, others like to run in the street, despite having a nice even sidewalk.
