I'm known by a nickname that isn't any of my names. I like it. People who end up hanging around me long enough always give me a surprised look when they hear my real name.

I know someone that named their kids so they could call them by the nickname for the real names. It wasn’t a family name at all.
Why not just name them the nickname version? If you want to call your child Andy then don’t name him Andrew.
