I have an Aunt Margaret and a cousin Maggie (no pics)
Maggie’s mom is Aunt Sheila who is bffs with Aunt Margaret
Hence she was named after her aunt but given a nickname - it’s pretty simple

Sometimes you want to give your kid the option to go with the more grown up version of the name when he grows up. The kid version doesn’t always fit in a professional setting.
Dusty may want to go by Dustin.
Chuck may want to go by Charles.
Ricky may want to go with Richard.
Etc.

Maggie is named after Aunt Margaret but is not aunt Margaret
And Maggie is Margaret at work - it’s a pet name mostly.
