I thank God every day that my parents did not stick me with the initials T.P.

Speaking of this. What’s the deal with people naming kids after famous people?

Jordan naming their kid Michael.
Cruise naming their kid Tom.

Is it okay to name people Daniel but to call them Danny as a child and then Dan as an adult? Or should someone’s birth certificate read Danny and then go through a legal name change at about age 24?

I’m 59 and still go by Chip. I’m a third and I’ve been stuck with this shitty nickname since birth. My real name is Edwin, so I’m not sure what’s worse.

Why is there a need to call someone 3 different names? Why make this so complicated? People get a name - that’s your name. Why is this so hard?

Yeah, but I can’t see everyone I know changing what they call me at this point. I just roll with it.

Why do you care what people call themselves? I use a shortened name like Dan from Daniel but the full name is a family name. So it was likely a sign of respect by my parents who also apparently liked the way the shortened form sounds. Don’t understand what you don’t understand. Or why it’s such a big deal to you. This is an odd opinion, in my opinion.

I call two of my kids by the first letter/sound of their name

I call BlueRockTiger “B” and I call ChartreuseRockTiger ‘Shar’

Never thought of naming a kid ‘B’ - it just sort of happened

Makes sense. That was just a neutral bystander’s objective ranking. I could see swapping Eddie and Chip for the right personality.

So you respect the family by completely not calling the kid that name? lol

You have a kid? You gave them a nickname?

My daughter has about a dozen terms of endearment from me. Bug, bae, munchkin, ±5 versions of her actual name.

Who calls their kid their actual name every time?

Yea but he would be Tripp, the name you actually call him
But it wouldn't mean the same. If your kid isnt a third and you like Tripp then name him that. If he is a third then it just means more. How about Trey?

Good luck getting this injustice rectified. You are doing the Lord’s work.
