Why do people get in stadiums so early?

Honest question...an hour before kickoff and people are already in their seats. You have an assigned seat that you’ll be sitting in 3-4 hours. Why the need to go ‘claim’ it an hour early?
I’ve seen it in other sports as well. Also witnessed it live when people walked in the stadium as soon as the gates opened.
What gives?

If I’ve never been to a stadium, I like to go early to get a beer and walk around. Especially the pro stadiums. They have some cool stuff to check out

I really like getting to movies early, like before the previews. Just to sit and relax and bullshite.

Its beneficial to not have everyone trying to get into the stadium at the same time.
Some people like to watch the pregame stuff.
They got there early to beat traffic.
They actually live in that seat and never leave.
Those are my guesses.

At ULL (and other inferior institutions) you can drive right up to the football stadium 10 minutes before kickoff and get a parking space right up front. I’ve seen it happen.

Sorry, I literally have time to drive to the gym, get a bad arse workout, and be back on my couch by kickoff...and these guys have been sitting idle in a seat staring at an empty field. I don’t get it.

Dumb thread. There are tons of reasons to get there early. Miss the crowd, grab a beer, watch the entire pre game festivities, etc.
My favorite part of a game in TS is seeing the crowd fill up and the energy start to build as kickoff nears.

I like to get to events early so I don't have to deal with stressful traffic and rushing to get to my seat before the event starts.
There are other people there as well so you can socialize...

Get something to eat, watch the warmups, listen to the piped in rap music.
