And to your point, I could have said something offensive when I was 18 years old (28 years ago). And if I was in the public eye and somebody outed that, it's expected that I still think and feel the same exact way 28 years later. You know, because nobody grows up and changes. Which is irony, because progressive is strictly about change. They assume people never change, but they claim their biggest enemy is the notion of never changing. Wrap your head around that.

In the 80's, when all of this stuff started to mature from the infant stage - we had chat rooms (AOL, Yahoo, etc.). And after so long, people figured out how ridiculous/trashy/seedy/etc. all of that was and moved on from it.
When are we going to have a moment of clarity like that behind social media? I would have thought that Facebook and Twitter would have died off like chat rooms did. But man they're still going strong.

Well, if business leaders are simply using their skills and experience to make these personnel decisions it sounds like there's not really a problem with "cancel culture".

The counter culture is now right wing, it will take some time to win the hearts of the young. The indoctrination is too strong right now.

I think you're on to something there. I've never quite heard it put that way, but that's a damn good point. And so true. All of this progressive shite has become mainstream now, and sooner or later the younger generation likes to take on what's exciting to them and go against the grain (which will end up being conservative values and thinking).

If you believe private business owners should be completely free to fire someone who made comments etc they think could damage their business and do not want any more protections for employees, isn't the only actual counter to convince enough of the people threatening boycott to not do so anymore?
Otherwise, it's just complaining on a message board about the way the world is changing.

I think the difference is Kap put himself in the media spotlight intentionally and while on the clock, thus intentionally dragging his employer along with him. In cancel culture, you have people making comments outside of work and their employer only gets dragged into it by the mob; if it weren't for the mob the employer isn't getting any bad publicity and wouldn't need to fire anyone
