Phuket beaches, Turks, and Curicao.
Blanking on the name right now, but I loved the beaches about 45 minutes from Phuket. Such a serene feeling swimming in what looked like a James Bond background.

I expected more downvotes but you are 100% right. I hate the beach, it sucks. It sucks that my wife likes it but we only go every few years. For that I am thankful

Agreed. Disney is the ticket imo

It was one, Goldfinger I think. Early boat ride with the jutting rocks emerging in the fog made me feel like I was in a King Kong movie.

There is a beach called North end locally. on coastal NC... Carolina Beach, that you can drive on the beach in a 4WD vehicle.
There is nothing like a beach wind and salt air to clean sinuses. It is very calming. Kure Beach Pier has bench-swings you can just swing and enjoy w/o a piece of sand on you.
This same northend beach has alligators coming out of the surf and big arse sharks.
So a pool and the swing are good. Or sitting at the dock of the bay wasting time.

beach is so much better with no kids, or being around other kids

will be doing lake houses from here on out.
Gotta agree with you here.
Unless someone else is paying for it give me a lake house with a pool.
Man, visited some family friends in hot springs village Arkansas one year...incredible
The lake is about 5 feet deep in a lot of places and like bath water.
Deep enough to jump in but shallow enough to just hang

Unless youre surfing or fishing, kids are pretty much the only reason to go to the beach with the other whales.
If I wanted to see fat people wearing strings, Walmart has it covered.

Played golf at Contraband Bayou yesterday in Lake Chuck. Afterwards headed to the Golden Nugget and stopped by their beach shack on the beautiful ship channel. If the Prop Stop was a casino, this is what it would be like.

You're getting a ton of downvotes but what you described is 100% accurate.

I like to drink in the water and look for sharks.
I love the beach.

My kids love it and I will say the one time I really enjoyed it was in Sarasota a couple years back when my 8yo kept diving in the water and coming up with starfish, live sand dollars and crabs. I would go back there in a heartbeat.
30a not so much. That's my definition of hell.

These are great for taking extra beers out into the waves.

I always have a great time. Maybe you're doing it wrong?

I have grown to really loathe the beach, I just put up with it because the rest of my family likes it. Sand in and on everything, setting up on the beach every day, packing up on the beach every day, insane heat, can't even go deep in the ocean because of sharks so I just go in to pee while standing on my knees (
), people playing music, etc.
I'd prefer a lake house vacation 1000000000000x more, if we had to choose a body of water to vacation next to.
I also don't want to be around people. Even the expensive beaches are fairly populated in peak season. We are going to Seaside in a few weeks and I'll put on a happy face for the kids, but dreading it a bit

Sitting in a chair drinking cold beer for 8 hours while watching the waves roll in and half naked women walking by sucks
With little kids I'm dealing with re-applying sunscreen, sunscreen getting in their eyes, sand getting in their eyes and mouth, them wandering off into the ocean, them getting too hot, them having to go back to the house 5x, their toys and crap being hauled to and from the house, begging me to find seashells or play paddle ball, etc.
I probably have 30 minutes a day on the beach where I just sit in my chair with a cold beer and people watching.
At a lake house, we leave a cooler on the dock, kids set up with fishing poles and a frog pad in shallow water, they can back and forth to the house alone. I just chill.

quote:so much hate for grand isle in this thread. I guess if I didn’t have a camp I probably would go to Florida more. But I enjoy going to the beach. I can set a tent and have a radio and some beer and stay out all day.
I would much rather go to Grand Isle than Florida
