And let me point out to the whiny assed millennials that from an inflation adjusted standpoint, my college debt was TWICE the average load of today’s grad. Yet I was able to buy a house.

If I cherry pick enough stats you might feel the same way about my financial accomplishments.

How much was your house in todays numbers?
What was your salary in todays numbers?
Food, power, gas, electricity, etc?

This is true too. Remember in 1980 a 27" TV was $1000, a VCR was $2000 and if you wanted a HUGE 5mb hard drive for your computer, that was $2500.

You are correct.

Too many people use blanket assumptions about inflation and money/time.

That $15 pizza in 1980 is about $8 right now.

Cost $2 to $3 for a movie rental back in the 80s. Redbox is $1.75 in my area.

Dollar movie theatre in the 80s. Is still a dollar movie theatre (food has inflated about 10 times but has unlimited refills for a family of 6).

Dominos was roughly 7-8 bucks for a 16 inch pizza in the mid eighties.

Starting at 18 dollars before adding any toppings today

Boomers please just stop.

Yep. Interest was through the roof as well.

The 70s-1982 was the roughest time in America since WWII. Factory jobs died, gas prices were high, inflation and interest rates soared, unemployment was high

Yet people survived, mostly independently.

told her that 7 bucks in 1980 is equivalent to 21.71 today. Pretty damn good job for out of college.

New grad nurses make more than that.

The pizza in Home Alone was $12.25 a pie.

My pizza in the eighties was regularly $15 to $20 per pizza depending on the toppings. But pizza in the 80s was actually good.

Youre a frickin genius.

Can you believe they just invented math 20 years ago?

Glad youre so frickin smart. Hopefully you use your high intellect to help others and yourself, not just hoarding it with such insightful posts such as “do old people know what inflation is”?

Ask that bitch sittin next to you to explain inflation and its effects and hear her young intellect.

You're trying real hard.

Something in your subconscious that you want to share?

How many pizzas did you buy in the 80s?

Cheap money is one of the reasons for housing inflation. That 145k house at 18% would cost about the same over 30 years as a 450k house at 4%

It is all relative. I made 5 dollars an hour in 75 and thought I was rich. My first car cost $5000 By the time I could save my 20 per cent down my loan on my first was 12.75 percent. It is all about how you manage the money.
