Took the girls to the park the other day. They wanted to swing, yet all the park had was the swings where the legs go through the hole, and you have to be 3 and under to fit in.
So we went to Lafrenierre and that was what they had too, so then we went to a whole bunch of different neighborhood parks and none had swings.
It's odd to me, and I blame litigious people and lawyers for sure. Just so odd that the common swing is going the way of the Merry go round and the Jungle gym. Ruined by sue-happy Gen-Xers.

Same reason Disney World is about to have electric fences around their lagoons.

The swings at City Park near Morning Call were still legit a few weeks ago.

wait until the next renovation. The parks by my house have all been changed to have only the toddler swings.

Yes, those are some of the last we know of. I was just in Metairie/Kenner and we were trying to find a park close by.

Sadly we had a swing set and they never used it. Get rid of it and now they want to go to the park and swing.

You need to change the subject to "Why do I live in an area that has shitty parks?" and then request deletion of the thread, because nobody cares.

Can some people name parks if they live in Metirie or Kenner

Kenner City Park - no swings
Kenner Veterans park - no swings
Lafreneire park - these two odd plastic swing things, but not the same
Miley - No swings
Galatas - no swings
Girard - No swings
laketown - no swings
Wilson park - no swings
Power blvd park - no swings

It's just nuts. I remember being a kid and Lafreniere park had this two story tall tower of death that was always hot as hell and you had to climb a metal ladder straight up it. Merry go rounds and an old rusted fire truck to play in. Those where the days.

Parks by me have both. But I can't see why they'd be so safety conscious about just that. I took my 2 year old to the park the other day and some of the stuff they have surprises me. Things to climb on that I don't really have a problem with, but could easily be dangerous for say a 5 year old. Like rock climbing wall 10+ feet high with no harnesses. Seems to me like parks would stay away from that with lawsuits the way they are. Again, I'm not against it, but if it were my property, I'd be scarred of lawsuits.

It's more for keeping the park crowd younger and not giving some elements a reason to visit. That's what a little birdie told me.

When I was a kid, Slidell had this one park with these massive wooden structures. I think one of them was 3 stories and all of them were death traps. Those damn things were nuts.

Because this guy doesn't like to push older kids in the big swings.

Buy your kid a swing set. Swings in parks are for the poors.

And security guards to tell you that the high voltage sign is not a joke. An ninjas to pop up and slap you when you still reach down to test the fence to see if it's on. And counselors to help you overcome the ninja slap and the humiliation it caused.

And the jury will still give you $1m.
