My understanding is that older kids can generate enough force to flip the swing over the crossbar. And every kid on the playground knows that when you flip over the crossbar while swinging that you get transported to another dimension. Many hours of recess in my youth were devoted to achieving such a feat.

Well, it must have finally happened in the greater New Orleans area. This is why we can't have nice things.

Swings have some very high injury rates. So most cities are phasing them out. Too much liability.
