It reminds them of the old days when you hung out at Wally's filling station with Gomer and the boys.

Dairy Queen or McDs is new “barber shop” for old men in small towns.

In my experience they talk about the same thing every day. How these young uns are ruining the country and why gas is so high. Same shite since the country was founded probably.

A better question is why do younger guys worry about such trivial crap

Or why does anyone stop at a gas station on their drive to work every morning?

You filling up every day?

Ice for a water cooler?

RC, and a Moon Pie every day?

Whatcha buying son?

Maybe I'm more country than some but ol baws would stand around a local gas station sipping coffee and exhaling the previous night's methanol fumes whilst steadying themselves for work. They also got shite done

There’s a guy I see every morning sipping his coffee at the gas station I visit every morning on the way to work. It never fails. He’s either leaning against the ATM or the newspaper bin. Then I get off work, and he’s still there. People watching.

He’s not the only one I’ve seen do this in the past either. Why not just go to the local Waffle House or McDonalds for the free senior coffee deal?

Homeless
or
Drug affiliation
or
Meets friends there every day and they go fishing

Stupid question, terrible thread and you are a bad human being.

When gas stations were full service, they were standing there hoping someone would ask them to check their oil, turn a wrench, set the gap on their points, break down a tractor flat, or something.

there's an older man I see at the Burger King in the Walmart near me. Always reading a paper. Always in a suit or sports coat. I've seen him drive off in a Mercedes. It's not like this guy is some pathetic, could never get anything right on his life type. He's just always in there reading the paper.

There's always a group of old men who hang out at country gas stations and frick with people who come it. They are the limp pecker club.

They do it at the local quick stop. 3 to as many 7 old guys. And yes, I'm as old as them and know them all. Guess it is a country thing.

Why do people stop at a gas station every morning on the way to work?

I'm genuinely curious.

In small towns there’s usually not much open at 4-6am when they want to get their coffee and talk. Not to mention the coffee is usually cheaper at gas stations. I say hello to the group of 5-6 gents when I stop into the chevron in Kaplan. Most of those old men are wealthy as frick and talk about their farming operations

Maybe he's the owner/franchise owner and he's watching out for young hoodlums who stop in daily and try to score free refills outta his income generating drink machines?
