I am a young white man and I love vests. They look good over a button down but my arms still feel free. I’m only worried about my core getting cold anyway. Plus they make me look like Han Solo, and he’s a cool guy

Also when it's not that cold out but a regular long sleeve wont do it.
I just go with a lighter jacket. Your arms have a lot of surface area, and surface area is the driving factor on how cold a person feels. This is not the same as saying your arms, or head, or whatever "loses the most heat", which is a myth. Simply what responds to the cold.
Doesn't make a lot of sense to leave your arms exposed if it's cold enough to need the vest.

The only vests I own are camo ones for hunting. On cool days I keep my core warm but I can still easily draw my bow.
This is the correct answer

they get cold when your core is cold and your body diverts energy to the core. warm your core and your extremities stay fine
I understand that has some impact, but being exposed is a far bigger deal. It would be like pulling the comforter over your chest because your feet are cold.
ETA - To be clear, I get the practical aspect of movement a vest provides, but the warmth thing makes little sense.

Ive got a couple of fleece vests. Can't stand anything on my lower arms, always roll my sleeves.
We just don't really have the weather for it here. I have a few sweaters, flannels and a jacket that I wear about 5 times per year.

I call it my Houston parka.
All the protection you'll need for about 355 out of 365 days a year.
The other 10? I put a sweater under my vest.

This is not a new trend. And it is spread across several industries. So what's up vest baws? What is it about the sleeveless jacket that makes you want to rock it?
Personally, I don't wear vests...but you do understand retaining heat in the body core...right?
Posted on 1/29/19 at 12:26 pm to CaptainBrannigan
Crustypunks rock vests too.

Honestly
1) It doesn't wrinkle my sleeves like a normal non-sport coat jacket
2) It allows me to wear more casual wrinkled shirts to the office without looking as bad
eta:typed while wearing fleece vest

No. He's been too busy arguing with me on tRant about O being a good coach.

Great, before I opened this thread, my ads were mostly hot models wearing upscale lingerie.
Now, it is bikini'd fatties wearing combat boots fashion ads.

Because sometimes it's not cold enough for a full jacket? Also, who gives a shite? That same question could be asked about a hundred other things.
Posted on 1/29/19 at 12:27 pm to CaptainBrannigan
Because it’s not cold enough to wear a jacket and I need something to hide this rubber tire I’ve gained around my waist from the Holiday season.

Because vests keep your core warm when it's not cold enough for a sweater or jacket. Is this a real question?
Posted on 1/29/19 at 12:28 pm to CaptainBrannigan
Because they make us feel like we’re back in college and living our frat days again

I can deal with my arms being cold
I don't like my core or feet being cold
