It does seem like an odd choice, but it probably is a good bang for the buck high calorie meal.

Gas station pizza. Gas station deli breakfast, and gas station fried food is absolutely delicious here in LA

I’ve wondered this for years. I’ve gone thru bad bouts of getting in a routine of picking up a Gatorade and protein bar at a gas station for breakfast.
Never once crossed my mind to get the gross, greasy food and a Mountain Dew but to each their own I guess.

The real question is why so many Mexicans are built like a bouncy ball when they do manual labor? You'd think they'd be in shape but so many of them have little muscle definition and beer bellies.

Perhaps they are on a work crew and staying at a place without a kitchen. A gas station hot dog is cheap and filling.
