Why do fatties love the steam room / sauna at the gym

This isn't really a Health/Fitness topic, so figured I'd post here. I spend most of my time in the lap pool at my gym. At all times, the hot tub, sauna, and steam room are at least 80% occupied by people that I'm fairly certain have never used any of the other equipment in the gym.
I get that it's a relaxing thing to do, by is it somehow that much more relaxing for fatties? There are certainly "regular" members who use it, but at a much lower rate. And the gym I go to isn't like super fancy, so these areas are actually kind of gross to me. I'd be worried about getting some sort of infection hanging out in there too much.
Is there some sort of belief that this is helping them lose that last 150 lbs or something?
Normally I'd live and let live, but these sweaty a-holes come take a dunk in the lap pool I'm using to cool off and rinse off before going back for another round in the sauna.

They like to sweat without actually doing anything.

Honestly for me the steam helps with all my aches and pains and I actually feel lighter after. I can't lose weight because I have happy thyroid

what are you...like 6% body fat? what do you need to sweat off?

And there is always a greasy spot left by the French fry and fried chicken oil that seeped from their fatness...

Never stepped foot inside of it. But it's all in the "wet" area at the gym. Right next to the lap pool. My real issue with it is when I'm in the first lane near the steps of the pool and some guy walks out drenched in sweat and comes ease his way into my lane for a cool off.
I just can't imagine paying a gym membership purely to use those facilities. And I've definitely seen people come in just to do that, then leave.

Same as a fatty at the salad bar that puts 4 lbs of ranch on their salad. They can tell people "well I eat salad everyday" just like "well, I go to the gym everyday..."

Please don't judge people of size. If he was getting a salad he was trying to diet. Many people can't lose weight because of genetics

Speculating here because IANAF.
One of the things I like about my summer runs here in NOLA is the clean feeling that comes from sweating like crazy for a couple of hours. Sweating hard flushes dead skin and other crap from your pores, I guess.
Maybe that's the appeal for the girthier among us, who obviously aren't doing twelve mile runs....

the grossest to me is walking by the jacuzzi and there's a bunch of wrinkled up old people in there and a foot of foam in the center of the water.

I wasn't. I am however judging the large person who gets a salad that contains 3500 calories of ranch dressing though. Its just like going to the gym JUST for the sauna...that person isn't really trying and they are just going through the motions.
Sorry you took it the wrong way.
