Watching It’s a Wonderful Life and I am jealous of George Bailey being able to throw on a fedora if his hair were to look like shite in the morning. Would be a nice option but in today’s world you’d probably be considered a clown for wearing such.

It’s this. And some of that probably started with masons, who still use fedoras as part of some sort of ritual. I went to a funeral not too long ago where a Masonic ceremony was done at the end of the regular funeral, and all of the masons participating looked like the “elbows too pointy, 2/10” meme guy and were all wearing fedoras.
