I don't like the new cans but I don't find them that difficult either

The only time I hate them is when the can is full and hard to handle. Otherwise, the little tab on the nozzle is pretty easy to push against the fuel opening on whatever you are filling to open up the flow.

But Blitz has filed for bankruptcy and will shut its doors at the end of the month. Why? Because it can no longer afford product liability insurance, Marketplace’s Sally Herships reports.

Deductibles for product liability insurance are often in the tens of millions of dollars, an expert in product liability law tells Marketplace. The rates go up even more if you have to use it, and Blitz is currently fighting 42 lawsuits.

Most of lawsuits against Blitz were brought by the same three lawyers,

Dumbasses kept setting themselves on fire and sued Blitz. The new parts are supposed to keep the cans from blowing up, like if you drop your lit cigarette in there or if you're pouring gas on a bonfire on something normal like that.

This.

Only way to get premiums down for gas can companies was to implement more loss control measures. I'm sure they have multiple open claims today that'll settle for 5mm or more.

Nothing that Blitz did wrong in the first place, but if the dumbass who set himself on fire is now disabled and unable to work and has 4 kids, who do you think the jury will side with?

Lawyers that's why.

You can buy aftermarket spouts to make them normal though.

I always fought those spout kits. They were always striping or popping off.

Get either the Eagle or Justrite Type II métal cans.

Ventless containers are safer per the EPA, less spills and no fumes in storage. Take the spout off and use a funnel

My metal cans have a 3/8 bolt vent and a 1 inch spout.

5.5 gallons takes no time.

Can leave it in a Louisiana car mid summer.

Lawsuits from idiots blowing themselves up skyrocketed insurance for the companies who made gas containers. People literally lit gas containers on fire, had devastating affects, and juries/judges awarded astronomical amounts to them.

I bought one of these super nice Skeptor jerry cans.

I never put gas in it since it was so expensive and it's never been used.

It's bananas. When my car was stolen I had to bring my own gas when I picked up my vehicle, and I ruined all of my clothes trying to get that thing to work in the middle of the night. Even the homeless people didn't ask me for money after that.

The No-Spill brand gas cans are really nice. You can also get the VP racing gas cans but don't be surprised when they walk off if someone sees it.
