That's gonna leave a mark.

Fixing a fricking road requires an act of Congress and Master Urban Planning is made up of Jethro and the Boys discussing where a good mud hole could be.

The legal system encourages suit churning and liability law suits. Your insurance is the highest because of your ability to not see the need for Tort Reform and how badly maintained your roads are. The lack of insurance and the limited liability thresholds make default and recovery nearly impossible, with LA having one of the highest uninsured rates per capita.
rhetoric from insurance companies.

It's not like lawyers make people get into accidents and force insurance companies not to pay what they agreed to pay.

i ask this in most of these threads... why can't most people admit their hometown or state is objectively shitty? my hometown is. i love it, but it's simply not a great place to live.

People take it so personally, but that fact is Louisiana's economy isn't diversified. Not everyone wants to work in a plant or in the O&G industry.

Then what makes the Louisiana personal injury regime so much worse than other states (if it is)?

Well, one thing would be dealing with LA resident's like you that don't see anything wrong with the state and get butthurt anytime people talk about how shitty it is.

The schools are so bad, you have to selectively place your child in a perfect school district that's overcrowded or compete for placement in handful of the decent schools in private school...while dropping 8K a year.

The average home price in Baton Rouge significantly out paces the average salary with rent prices comparable to a city twice its size. Recently I googled for the heck of it. You can get a one bedroom in DC that's decent quality for $1700-$2,000. In Baton Rouge, there are places that think they can get $1,300.00.

Sometimes you have to step back from the madness

What good does it do you to have all that student debt, just to find a job that requires you to live in a big city, only to have less to show for it than your parents? There are opportunities everywhere

Bill Walton lived in Arkansas

Warren Buffet lived in Nebraska

Jeff Bezos lived in New Mexico

My God you are naïve. Take a look at the job market in LA and tell me where the jobs making >$60,000 are located.

I agree that we have problems here.

But it sounds like you want to come home...only on your own terms. Everything has to change to satisfy you.

Doesn't work like that, baw. There is no Utopia.

100k? That's not much of a quality of life when you throw kids into the mix. You're okay with making <60k a year?

Operators, tradesmen, contractors, and engineers in plants with hs or bachelors degrees along the Mississippi River and in Port Allen all make at least $60k/year. If you're making that living in AP, you're pretty much going to want for very little except for competent transportation, sewage, and drainage infrastructure.

What the hell do you spend your money on?

That's 6500 a month after taxes?

Live in an area where you don't have to pay for private schools? Only have one car note (NEVER lease) at a time? Quit drinking? or smoking? or drugging? Quit trying to compete with your peers? (you will find put later in life they were just living off their credit cards)
