They do. That’s what these buildings are. This one can stack them 6 high.
I always thought that was the way to go for burials until watching Lamont at Large. What I didn't know was that as the bodies decompose there is fluid leakage and there is drainage that runs at the back of these things and it goes wherever. If the cemetery goes unmaintained or abandoned the drains clog and the entrails can come leaking out of the front. Disgusting and only further cemented my wishes to be cremated.

Bermuda is a rock so they can’t dig. All ocean burials. All the boats slow down out of respect in the common dumping sites. Experienced it with a fishing charter. Pretty cool.

You idiot.
I'd bury your arse upside down and make you stand on your head for eternity.
Because you're rude, sir.

Only ones allowed to be buried that way are people named Ilene.
Or Irene if they are Japanese.

Why aren't people buried standing up?
Duh.

We have a very large family crypt in NOLA. As it became "crowded", they would collect the older remains, and re-pack them in velvet "pouches" to make room for the more recently deceased. Several generations are in there, and I figure there is room for many more.

The real question is why are we putting dead people in boxes in the ground period?

I mean would you rather stand for eternity or lay down?
Easy choice.

In Louisiana, the hole would need to be…
6ft + 5’6”…
11.5ft deep.

In Great Britain they are doing internments without coffins as we know them. I watched a broadcast of a very good friend's burial n northern Wales. In a cemetery next to a church, her unembalmed body was in a woven casket with a top and she was buried where she would become soil. The dust to dust ashes to ashes took on a whole new meaning.

Considering it won't affect me, you or every other human that dies...no, it doesn't matter.

"Laid to Rest" means laying down. That's why.
