What’s wrong with Philip heads? My Jeep is covered in torx heads and I can’t stand it.
This. Anyone whoever has dealt with an old one can tell you they suck.

Canada has it right in this, they use square head screws for just about everything.

Because a Phillips head will fit several different Phillips head screw sizes. Flat heads are pretty much useless though.

Chynna Phillips head and/or screw would trump Torx

Pro tip: when trying to remove a Phillips screw that may strip on you put a little valve grinding compound on your screwdriver bit it will help prevent cam out and it may save you from having to break out the EZ out .
And you non Aviation types have no idea the misery of the different fasteners like coin slots which are like a standard slot but worse or Tri Wing or the so-called Nazi screw because the slots where the soecual tri-wing bit goes into kind of looks like a swastika.
Pro tip 2 put copper or nickle anti seize on screws and bolts and set the clutch on your screw guns lower than gorilla torque

Torx screws are the shite
People say Phillips screws were designed so you can’t overtighten them without cam-out but I kinda think that’s a load of bull covering for the design.
But I find the convenience at home of only needing a single Phillips head screwdriver isn’t something you can just overlook.

Honestly havent seen anything but T20/T25s on jobsites for the past couple years. Only downside is when you get a helper that runs the wrong size and chongers up the screw and your bit. Other than that they are significantly easier to deal with.

Well, let’s see. First, if you make even a feeble attempt to use the correct Phillips screwdriver (3 sizes cover about 95% of the screws you’ll encounter) and you know how to properly use a screwdriver, the problems you cite pretty much do not exist.
Second, torx screws are nowhere near as available as Phillips, and probably never will be, much like Allen head screws.
Third, torx, like Allen head screws are sized. Unless you have that size torx bit or screwdriver, you are done until you have it. So instead of being able to do almost any job with 2 or 3 screwdrivers, you must have 6 or 8 bits or screwdrivers at all times without fail, or you are at a standstill.
Market forces indicate whether a tool is an actual improvement or not. If torx was better, it would be dominant by now. It isn’t, and probably never will be.
I didn’t think that at 1:30 AM I’d get hit with a lesson on tools and economics.
