And what is it that happened that made these public schools suck? They all of a sudden get worse teachers?

It's mostly the inner city and some rural schools that suck. In the 80's a judge named John Parker established forced bussing that basically attempted to make the public schools more racially balanced.
White people left the public school system for private schools or moved to the suburbs.

There's really only one reason for the existence of private schools anywhere in America.
You can sugar coat it and say it's for religious purposes or "quality of education", but let's not beat around the bush.
At best, you can say parents want their children to be taught alongside children of other parents who have life values similar to theirs.

Why are there so many private schools in Louisiana?
Because just like in Mississippi, public education is pathetic.

I never thought Tara High School was bad during the early eighties but John Parker swung his small dick and bussed everyone around the city. Still never understood the process.

Yeah, probably so. I don't really give a shite if he thinks I'm racist though

I could send my kids to a 90% white public high school right now, but I dont. Tell me how I'm being racist.

I’m not liberal. But I’m also not a racist I know some may have a hard time comprehending that

Yes, yes they are.

Well two reasons, but they often intersect - racism and classism.

And religion. One of my kid's best friends lives in one of the best school districts in the state and she still goes to private school.

I'm speaking more to the existence of them than any reasons parents send their kids to them. On the macro level, their existence can almost always be tied back to racism and/or classism. That certainly isn't absolute, and is not a statement accusing any parents that choose private school as racist or classist.

It’s a combo of this being a large catholic population and the choice for public education being so bad.
Also consider the disparity in cost for people in new orleans. They pay high property taxes to support the public school system yet there are private schools that charge over 20,000 a year and get it!
Incredible.
The public system is just horrible
