Plus, you can't cook a t-bone right, because the tenderloin side should cook less than the strip side. He told me he just like t-bones because it made him feel like real cowboy. Talk about a clown.
I’ve always wanted to try a T Bone but yeah it seems like you’re more likely to get a mediocre strip/filet combo as opposed to just getting them separated and cooking them both on their own.

I never understood the love for t bones
T bones and porterhouses are the same thing right?
I always thought a porterhouse was the strip + filet with a bone in the middle. But I’ve also heard of T bones. Per my earlier post never really gone in on those myself.

Porterhouse just has a bigger filet side.

You can set it up on a grill to where the strip side is closer to the coals than the tenderloin side, but it's just more trouble than it's worth to have it come out right.

Porterhouse is a little further back.

Trader Joe's has normal sized steaks and they are delicious - from Argentina

Based on just what I see at restaurants these seem to be in line generally with what is served there.
Not the restaurants around here in the Delta.
You won’t find a ribeye under 20 oz.
Go to does, it’s gigantic.

Find a good organic farm locally and buy a half of a grassfed cow.

I go to a lot of grocery stores and do a ton of cooking. I have never seen this huge steak phenomenon you're blabbing about.
Same. I'd guess the strips we buy at Iverstine (local) and the ones we buy at Fresh Market (chain store) are pretty much the same size. Maybe 10oz or so.
OP - Why don't you just cut it to the size you want?

OP - Why don't you just cut it to the size you want? We split 1 steak every single time we have steak. Sometimes cut before to make it like there's two of them. Sometimes I just slice it after it's done, service style.
We did exactly that. And have in the past. I’ve said before but it just feels wrong slicing up a steak like that. I started this thread basically to ask if that was what everyone did or if for some reason these grocery stores were just selling massive cuts of meat.
I get the OT is filled with 230 lb 6’4” dudes made of straight muscle who eat a porterhouse every day for breakfast but I was asking for us normal people who eat regular sized steaks.

If the steaks are too big for you, you could just have your husband make you a cheesesteak sandwich or some fajitas with your leftover steak.

Nah
Let it rest for 5 minutes or so. Cut
Plenty of restaurants do that
