Yeah, my gf takes it twice a day. For people who actually need it, it's truly astonishing the 360 their personality takes after 12-24 hours off of it.

I know plenty of ppl that played the game and got it prescribed to keep weight down and to help them in school.
Do shite right and buckle down and study hard.

Add isn't a real disease. I know because I was diagnosed with it and took the medicine so I didn't have to study in school and now that I'm done with school I don't take it anymore
If you believe add is a real disease, your parents didn't whip you enough

Very few people actually NEED this shite. Ive been saying that for a long time to people in my family and friends who take it.
I have taken various doses and variations of adderall (i.e. vyvanse) maybe a couple dozen times in my life, mainly in college. It works, but as others have said, it is like being on speed. I recall not sleeping for hours and hours, not eating, sweating profusely, crashing hard, etc. Its like that jolt you get from coffee x100 and it lasts for hours. Yes, you do get things done, no doubt. But for someone who doesn't truly need it, there is no way that taking it everyday can have any sort of positive long-term effect. I've seen people lose ridiculous weight from taking it.

This. I wasn't prescribed anything until I was like halfway through college. I never missed classes and always took thorough notes. It wasn't until I would get to a test and there would be sections on the test that I had zero recollection of, and no notes that I took on the section.
I've been on Vyvanse for a long time now, and it has truly been a godsend for me. I am able to stay more organized, complete tasks, and stay focused. However, I actually went to a psychologist and got thorough testing before I started on it. This definitely isn't the case for most people.
ETA: I also don't get wired or jittery on it. It has a major calming effect on me, and allows me to sit still, which I could never do.

It's awful because, in my experience, a lot of the downside stays with the user after she wants/needs to get off the medication completely. This is one of the reasons I feel like it affects the brain's permanent wiring.
The two areas that I feel lead me to this conclusion are when you try to retrieve memories stored in the Adderall induced cloud it seems more difficult (most everyone's graduate schooling) and, again -- for me personally, I feel like my imaginative qualities to think outside the box have been significantly dampened.

Because people want shortcuts to success.
People will doctor shop until they find one who will give them what they want and they get their magical adderall Rx.
Then they tell their friends about it and their friends get Adderall Rx's too.
wash rinse repeat.
Its not doctors pushing the issue. Its people pushing around the doctors. (they still share the blame though)

those that truly have ADD. Im not even getting into ADHD. If you TRULY have ADD then the medication doesnt give you extra energy, make you jittery, etc.
Correct. I have taken multiple forms of it and multiple doses of those multiple forms. I hated every single one of them. People used to ask me, why, if I really had add did I not get an adderhol prescription. And I always had to explain that it doesn't effect me the way it does them.

I'm a creative person. I enjoy problem solving and playing music equally. I wake up in the morning already at 100mph, I talk way too fast, and I have way too much energy.
Everytime I took whichever God forsaken devil pill they put me on I became a lifeless zombie with no energy and no thought process. Sure, it's a fact that the 2 years I was trying out the different medications and doses I had by far my best grades of my life. But I also had no personality, no creativity, and life was just too fricking quiet. I could read 100 pages in a night and recite them all to you and Ace every test, but I couldn't play my guitar or solve a logic game to save my life. Your right. ADD is like have 20 multichannel TVs on in your head. But I spent years of my youth learning how to deal with and channel that energy and thought process into ways of being productive instead of becoming dependent on a pill.
I'm not saying one way is better than the other. I'm not better than anyone else. But you could never pay me enough money to take or advocate for those fricking pills.
There are drawbacks to not being on the medication and I'll occasionally slip into a bout of extreme procrastination or erratic behavior, but I'll take that all day every day over the depressing silence and zombie like rote approach to life I got on those medications.
Life has ups and it has downs. You learn to deal with them. You learn from failure and success. You face times of adversity and you enjoy prosperity.
You can't enjoy the good without the bad. And taking pills to dull all the bad will just dull all the good with it.

I agree. Watch this short clip of Aaron Paul discussing meeting Elon Musk from last night's Jimmy Kimmel. He says that he's very engaged in their conversation, but you could tell he's thinking of "1000 other things at once". Youtube Link to the Interview I'm not sure using medication to, as I'm sure Elon would say, dumb down all your other thoughts is a better way of living.

I don't think so.
It has very real and clear effects on people in the short term. (That's why the military uses "go pills" Cite). Doctors tell them to try it out and if it doesn't work they can always stop. It always works... so they listen to the doctors. Kids that take it's grades will improve. They'll get into better colleges. The parent's are only trying to help give their kids the best shot at success.
What I think get lost in the mix... is at what cost? When do they get off the meds? Have these drugs been studied for daily use for over 20/30 years?

Boomers
"Doctor, doctor! My kids are bouncing off the walls! They have so much energy! I can't handle it! I Just want to watch war docs on the History channel!!!"
Doc
"Well young kids need exorcise. The best thing is to keep them active. Maybe you shouldn't have voted to end PE class to avoid a half cent property tax in your town?"
Boomers
"No no. You don't know what are talking about. Exercise? Taxes? Come on. Give me pills for them. You're a doctor aren't you?"
Doc
"Well I have this one thing. It's basically legal speed and they'll get so locked in on what they are doing time will fly.... It's not really for what you are talking ab..
Boomers
"YES GIVE ME THE PILLS!!!"
Doc
"You do realize you'll be spending more on the pills than you would the PE classes right?"
Boomers
"OH WHAT THE HELL DO YOU KNOW? GIVE ME THE PILLS AND SHUT THE HELL UP. I'M NOT HERE FROM A LECTURE ABOUT MONEY FROM SOME a-hole GETTING CRUSHED BY SCHOOL DEBT. YOU WORK FOR ME AND DON'T YOU FORGET IT!"
