Wanted to buy a backup gps in case my phone crapped out. I drive for a living. These damn things damn near cost as much as a cellphone!

What kind of GPS are you taking about, because you can get a Garmin or tomtom for $100 or under...unless that is "f...ing expensive"

Speaking of, I've dealt with many truck drivers over the years who call the shop for directions for delivery here. Seems to me ALL you drivers would own a GPS especially if you drive for a living. What's the deal with that?

My guess is because only people 65+ and long distance truck drivers buy them.

I do. Don't want my battery draining on long drives, and I hate having a cord hanging in my way. My GPS also has dirt roads that aren't on Google maps

Show me an example. Pretty sure you're wrong, ya knuckle checkin goober.

ETA: if your GPS is using an 'open maps' type technology where users help 'draw' new roads and maps, you're definitely wrong b/c Gmaps has that option/layer.

I often have the opposite thought regarding GPS.

This little box knows where you are and can tell you where to go in real time using satellites that orbit the earth.

For about $100.

It's value is much more than its cost.

If this technology had been available even 25 years ago it woild have blown people's minds and they'd pay out of their arse for it.

That's what I have. I think it was $130 when I bought it several years ago.
