The developer might give some input by showing examples of existing structures that they want the new development to emulate. Sometimes they may leave that decision to the architectural firm they have in-house or retain.

Right. Which just leaves everyone to argue over the style, that being my point

Then do it and show us what you came up with that is better than anything in any of the pics you showed us.

Seriously? We aren’t talking interior here, just the exterior of the building?

Buddy, there’s several great buildings in this country. My art skills are probably terrible, but are you really suggesting someone can’t look at some pictures and basically copy and paste some features of classic buildings (art deco, classic, gothic, whatever) into a building that looks better than that glass jenga set?

Sometimes, keeping things in the box is the way to go. These buildings just look like some architect trying to make a name.

Use ChatGPT and describe your idea of a good looking skyscraper and ask it to generate a picture.

I guess this one in Orlando is still considered new (even though they started construction on it over 20 years ago LOL)

Not arguing with you, but who decides such things?

I think

Design elements and influences (usually the architect mentions)

The new Brooklyn tower would be Art Deco

There are still lots of art deco influences being used, they just dont look exactly like the Empire State.

There is some decent modern stuff in Melbourne, but brutalist architecture sucks balls.

Yes the OKC Thunder were first ( 2008)

When NBA was showing games on TV during breaks; OKC needed some "Eye Candy" for the Nation to see

This Iconic Skyscraper was built 2012
Make no mistake the 1931 Art Deco skyscraper in the middle looks nice!

....The REAL monstrosities are those bland/boring box-towers on each side built in 70's; early 80s

Hotels in Korea often had Swiss seats in each room in case of fire. I know how to put one on, but some rando salaryman is going to strap himself into that shite 12 floors up?

Love the New Skyscraper in OKC ...Put that city on the map ; otherwise a bland old boring skyline like Memphis

If—and I mean if—it moves forward as planned, OKC will have the tallest skyscraper in the U.S. in a few years.
