I hear you, but if you can’t afford insurance then you can’t afford to own the car. Literally, because if you cause an accident you can’t pay to fix the other guy’s car.

how bout "no"?
One accident with a driver with no insurance who was also at fault for the accident might change your tune on this.

My child was in Louisiana visiting and was hit by a guy with no insurance/no license/did not even speak english. The cops gave zero fricks. Nothing happened to the guy at all and their insurance had to cover all the damages to their car.

Then you, my friend, are part of the PROBLEM !!

You have, by accident, perfectly described the mentality of the people causing 75% of the problems in this country.
What other laws did you ignore because you were poor?

Tow the car on the spot.
now you know the stakes, drive (or don’t drive) accordingly. There is no point in mandatory insurance if there’s no consequences for driving without it.

What’s your solution for when a poor person rear-ends someone else? The “someone else” has to eat it because the driver is poor?
That’s a good way to make a lot more poor people.

BINGO!

So, you start off 'poor' ...with the coreect work ethic/mindset, ANYONE can succeed in the USof A...that does NOT mean you are 'allowed' to disregard laws/regulations which make for a CIVILIZED society !

At least make these frickers pay a $400-500 tow bill to get the car. Maybe they might start getting insurance then.
You really think thats how that works?

Exactly, the gall to think that you shouldn’t have to follow laws just because of your financial situation.
Let me be clear, I have equal disdain for insurance companies who jack up premiums just because they can, and do their best to wiggle out of paying claims. As others have said, though, driving is a privilege, not a right.

Being poor, in the richest country in the world, is absolutely a choice.

School is for low-T pussies. Kids should be suiting up and heading to the plant as soon as they can walk.

So we remove the laws requiring insurance and all the uninsured will turn into honorable people who will pay out of pocket when they damage other vehicles….
Thats not a solution. That’s something you did because you happen to be a decent human being. Almost no one else is going to do that.
Again, I get that being poor sucks. But that doesn’t give you the right to socialize your cost of ownership, which is exactly what you’re doing when you drive uninsured. It’s not about being punitive. It’s about everyone paying for what they use…and break.

In my area, the cars are towed but there can be a long wait for a tow truck.
Posted on 8/10/24 at 11:27 am to Townedrunkard
If the car has a license plate it was not a no insurance vehicle. If left on a state highway it gets a decal noting x days to move it
