Why are all the patients on my 600 pound life poor?

Majority of their income is spent on food

There was one a while back who had a really decent job doing web design from home (coincidentally, he was super successful and still is), but yeah most of them are on government assistance/disability and poor.

I imagine someone with a good job has more dating prospects than 600lb folks, so that's why you don't really see well off SOs.

If you're morbidly obese, odds are you're uneducated and/or come from poverty, growing up in a household where you witness vises or develop them to cope with the stress from the shitty environment you grow up in. I get it, addicts of all vice are unbecoming, but there is basic psychology behind most of it, and I'm sure the vast majority didn't dream to be where they are.

Yep. I am obsessed with the show. The stories of these people and how they got there are insane in most cases. And then you have the people who are legitimately horrible human beings whose episodes are "classics" for how unbelievable they are.

There was a woman this season who shocked me because she was very smart, always kept herself busy, and she had an immaculately clean home. I hope she's doing well.

Yes

A lot of those people have a lot of issues that manifest in food addiction. Very few of them had happy childhoods that were free of abuse. It's kinda sad, honestly.

That being said, many of them are too big to work and just about all of them have some person who is an enabler (a mother or significant other who runs to the drive thru for them).

Few of them are educated which only makes the situation worse.

Most of them sit on their fat disgusting asses eating all day and collecting disability.

Have you ever watched the show? A lot of them grew up poor. It's hard to get out of that pattern, especially if you can't afford a good education. Add health issues to that and not being able to work and it's the perfect storm for being broke.
