How scary!!!

And you can find people who agree with you politically pretty much anywhere. Or, even better you can find people who don't push their beliefs on you pretty much anywhere.

People get too caught up in other people's political leanings. I really don't give a shite, unless you are trying to convince me that your way is the only way.

I love San Diego, but I actually like San Fran and wine country weather better.

1/4 zip and chinos weather is my jam. I love it. I sweat enough and wear shorts here

The high today in SD will be 66 and low humidity compared to 90 and hot as balls humidity here in Baton Rouge

We just resigned our lease. It would be an expensive arse move. She was also offered a huge promotion in her current job so that's the route we went.

The recruiter left the door wide open for if we ever make it over there. She's a level 3 sommelier with a hotel and restaurant management degree and a ridiculous amount of experience.

California has the #2 school system in the country behind Mass.

They have 524 blue ribbon Gold and Silver medalist schools where as LA has 17

are you talking about k-12? If so

My kid is in one and it's awful. Group based learning about BLM which is a must at that age

These people are stupid. You'd never be able to go to basically any major city. Or consume any media. Or eat in most restaurants. The list goes on.

working in what is regarded as one of the best restaurants in the world would just seem like a too good to pass up offer for a sommelier

plus Yountville > Dallas burbs

What do you mean by this?

I meant that California still has excellent universities and innovative industries. In Louisiana, LSU barely hangs on to Tier 1 status and most of the high-paying industries have left

Rather, what about liberal culture on a day to day level is so awful that people who have never been to the state feel is worth shouting about every time the state comes up?

Well for many (not me) the anti religious, "dreamer" and impractical living prevelant in those areas (esp LA/SF). Your "salt of the earth" types have little connection to that. Add in the modern progressive support of censorship and ostracization of those outside the orthodoxy and it isn't really appealing.

Abortion, LGBT stuff, etc. That all exists and matters to them.

These types think Houston is alien. You think they'll be comfortable in LA? SF? You are because it fits in your cultural values. It is 180 from theirs.

She would've started at the bottom to eventually work her way into the Thomas Keller restaurant group. She's a sales manager with her wine certs and sommelier stuff so it'd be starting over in a sense. Still, it wasn't an easy decision.

We're in Dallas proper, but the point still stands.

It was very tough because she studied him in depth and was obsessed with his restaurants. Just bad timing.

I'll flip this around

Do you think LA/SF people have any desire to live around rural southern Baptists or Pentecostals? frick no. Same issue but the flip side. Progressives don't own the entire cultural market, regardless of their narcissist beliefs

Wish our SD trips in March would have overlapped.

And love all the people that swear off visiting California cause “OMG liberals” but have no problems making their annual trip with the kids to Disney World.

Btw....I am not liberal by any means.

I've only posted that she was in sales management. We're both in alcohol sales. But she paid her way through college bartending and did an internship at the four seasons. Got her somm 1-3 over the past few years.

There are a lot of folks around here who don't leave their LP trailer parks very much.
