Watched the game on ABC OTA last night. Clear picture and live without the 2 minute streaming delay. Superior way to watch games on NBC, ABC, and CBS.

Many do not know what happened and why. Disney demanded Direct TV take all of their stuff in a bundle. DTV wanted a slimmer bundle. Disney said no, then demanded that DTV sign up to never be allowed to sue Disney, no matter what they do, or how egregious their actions are.

'Splained here.

Dude you realize maybe only 10% of people here actually have DirecTV. Would you not think it'd be a good idea to tell people what happened since 90% here have 0 idea? Can't stand posts like these.

Directv and Disney are in negotiations, like happens with every carrier/provider regularly.

Instead of posting notice on impacted channels in advance, like they always do "Disney wants to take away your programming, we are in negotiations and are committed to keeping prices low, but as of 9/1 you will no longer have access"... They just turned off ABC 30 min prior to the game last night and fricked a lot of people.

And its not just Directv and those with a dish, it is Direct Stream too, their version of Youtube TV.

I think it’s only ABC/Disney owned affiliates, but they own affiliates in some of the biggest cities; NYC, LA, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston

It was nationwide unlike other retransmission agreements that affect individual stations that are owned by Gray or Hearst, retransmission agreements for networks for IPTV like DirecTV stream or YouTube TV are handled at the network level.

So the local affiliates have nothing to do with this. They are stuck between a rock and a hard place because they do not control this and are stuck at what ever deal the network makes as far as retransmission fees if they even get any money as part of the deal.

There are efforts to put local affiliates in control of this, but the networks are fighting them. It is also the reason why YouTubeTV and DirectTV Stream do not have independent stations because there are no requirements for them to do so like traditional cable.

What you guys pay for DirecTV in one month is what I pay for IPTV for an entire year.

And I get 45,000+ channels, all pay per view, Sunday Ticket, 120+ channels of college FB, 100,000+ movies on demand….

I paid $110 for a year.

I stopped telling people about it, b/c they just glaze over and think I’m crazy.

Just wait when the FBI shuts down that server. Illegal providers like that are the Napster of TV industry. Unfortunately as one shuts down another pops up.

I had Directv for years because it was my only choice living in boondocks. But it was always some BS with them losing channels or intermittent blackouts during Saints games. The blackouts during Saints happened only on Fox on Directv. As soon as I had a choice I got YouTube tv. Helluva lot better service with no issues so far. Half the price of Directv.

There’s nothing on any channel that I feel compelled to watch, so I simply don’t, with these exceptions: weather, occasional streaming movie and any cop cam video. Been doing this for 3 years. Don’t plan on stopping.

As per Frank Zappa 40 years ago, “I’m the slime oozing out from your TV”

Dish did the same shite a couple of years ago. I realized Disney owns both espn and Hulu so I signed up for Hulu knowing that this won't happen again.

Get the Hulu Live with ESPN+ bundle then thank me later. I can watch just about any college football game above JUCO ranking.

Actually its not very hard. You send the shite it in and tell them they were in breech of contract for failing to provide services you paid for. When they send a bill for remaining services tell them to go frick themselves. They will eventually send it to collections. When they call you explain that you don't owe shite because Dish failed to provide services and they bought bad debt. It wont affect your credit.

I offered it to so many people and they look at me like I'm stupid. Keep paying $100+ month. One girl I work with took me up on it and they love it. That's all she talks about.
