The priest at my church doesn't jab at those that come only twice a year. He will however kindly remind the congregation that practicing your belief is a year around commitment.
If i go every week, it's starts to be meaningless to me. I get far more out of going only twice a year.

Why does a church need to be a multimillion dollar facility with state of the art sound systems and TV screens?
Why does it even need to be a building at all?
Seems like the 10% tithe idea would do a lot more good if people didn't have the idea of a building fund, new stage, fitness facilities, etc.

You need a church because you need to worship and fellowship with others that share your faith. The Christian faith is not meant to be done all by yourself.
"But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

Seems like most of you are going to the wrong church. I have not seen any of these things at our church. Like anything else, what you get out of it is proportional to what you put into it.

The Bible also gives many examples of the need to congregate with fellow believers. That is why it is difficult for me to reconcile not going.

We call them the EMC members (Easter mothers day christmas)
I have a big church usually 3 services with about 1500 people at each service. 8 o'clock service has every bit of 2500 people here

My church I went to for 20 or so years was close to perfect in terms of what'd you'd want.
Good priest
Good space
Good homilies that were interesting
Never a condescending or "teacher" attitude from the priest to parishioners
A lot of the church money went to improving the school for the kids (new facilities)
Then, we got a new priest and it all went to shite. Judging people for not coming to Church or sitting in the back because it's packed. Has this I'm smarter than you attitude that rubs people wrong. Changed the church inside and out, spending all that $$$ to make it look like a cathedral and less on the kids/education

I don't know how people live without going to church I guess I been through enough stuff in life to where I can appreciate God in my life. I feel like a new man after church it's the highlight of my week

I have a nearly 3 year old that just kicked the shite out of my balls. I'm not sure how I survive going to church.

It's a pretty shitty assumption to make that someone who doesn't attend a specific church regularly doesn't appreciate God in their life. Really kind of reinforced that holier than thou attitude that puts a lot of people off church actually.

Slight tangent, but when attending a Catholic Church in south Texas after Katrina, the priest made the mistake of making a comment about my mom's attire. She had jeans on. Well, that old Italian chick allowed the church to empty, and let him have it.
I am fairly certain that that priest no longer makes random comments about his congregation.
And for the record, there was no way i was stopping her. That dude was on his own.

Why would u want to hear the same two sermons every year
Posted on 4/16/17 at 11:32 am to tgrbaitn08
Sounds like some of you need to find better churches. If your complaint is that the sermon is always about asking for money and that everyone's judging everyone else, you're in the wrong place. I love my church.
