I have a vood friend friend of mine who umpires baseball. He averages $2-400 cash on the weekend.

I may do some this summer. $20 cash for an hour game isnt bad money.

Did this years ago when I lived in La. Think it was $12 a game then and it was a horrible experience. Some parents take this far too seriously, even if it's 8-10 year olds playing

I ref high school football, pick up peewee games on Saturdays.

I'll usually do a JV/freshman game or 2 during the week, a Friday game and if time permits maybe 3 peewee games on a Saturday.

I used to work at Canes at around 30 hours a week.

Multiple jobs is fun when you get the paychecks, terrible when you have to crank out hours after hours.

$110K after taxes working 40 hours/week is still >>>>>> $65K tax free working 40 hours/week.

i've considered doing something totally mindless and outside of my career, entrepreneurial and artistic aspirations.

i couldn't bartend because I'd drink too much and stay up too late.

Valet--but i had the best valet job on the planet in college, so I'm spoiled.

Manual labor is an attractive option. I really enjoy it--building, plumbing, tiling, sawing, hacking, demolishing, etc. I could jump on some random job in a heartbeat.

Editor and writer for some random publication. Pay is under the Haitian poverty level, but good forced writing.

But I'm seriously considering this: Delivery driver for zifty or similar service that delivers from many restaurants. you don't have to deal with customers more than a few seconds, no coworkers to deal with much, and in a LEAF, no gas. listen to audiobooks, lectures and podcasts. My only fear is that I'd deliver to a colleague, judge, former colleague, neighbor, etc. not that i am too proud, but they'd think i'd lost it. f em. i'm going to do it. record shite on voice recorder and just take my office on the road. Like a beta Lincoln Lawyer. Carter Counsel, that's it.

Where do you find a side job that pays enough to make it worth the few hours you work? All I can think of is a crappy part time job which won't pay anything.

see above.

it would have to be something you just really enjoyed doing--something that furthers a passion and/or helps someone. Something outside of your regular career, or else it's counterproductive.

or something so mindless, stress-free, flexible, etc., that you could pursue your passions while doing it.

I think this all pretty much assumes you don't have a family waiting for you at home. in that case, def not worth it for me. (unless very temporary to cure a financial situation.)

Learn how to code in Objective-C and create apps.

It's residual income. Once you have it in the App Stores, you could have $200+ a month doing nothing.

I have a bunch I need to complete and a big one I need to start that could be extremely lucrative.

I'm thinking about leading hikes to the ice caves a couple of times every weekend.

awesome. my buddy who lives in my missoula house and i have been discussing such things. i mean, missoula is no alaska, but there's a lot of great stuff that a lot of folks just don't go do without prompting/accessibility.

he's started designing and making ultra lightweight backpacking/biking gear too. thinking of combining the homemade gear aspect with the guiding. we should discuss one day.

i have my equivalent to this sort of thing. def money to be made, and residual income is delicious.

to be honest, that as my first reaction, but I've learned to embrace the poor.

I don't have permits for this year so I'd have to work with someone else, but it's a hell of a lot of fun.

I pick up weekend things occasionally.

This past winter I was a chef at a fancy hunting lodge in south west Louisiana. My check to work Friday - Sunday out there was larger than my 8-5. Money was stupid. This summer I'm not taking any classes, so I'm going to pick something else up to do in the evenings. Not sure what yet. I get bored when all I do is 1 thing. I work 50-60 hours a week at my 8-5, and I'm bored as shite without course work.

The one day I cut my grass, I do a few neighbors yards, edge a few driveways nearby. No weed eating, no blowing the clippings, no collecting the clippings......... just riding the mower with a beverage aboard and tunes. $200 a week cash in hand.

Have a friend that cleaned out junk from your garage and or house. He charged $150 for three hours and as much stuff that he could fit in his truck and a small trailer. Sold some of the good stuff to second hand stores and would have to bring the rest to the dump. No longer does this since finishing school.
