My dad wears them because he has bad arthritis in his spine and he doesn't have to bend over as far to slip them on.
I have a pair of boot hooks that are 15" long that I use some mornings to help me slip mine on.
Something like that would be ideal for your dad.

Sure styles vary, but how dumb would you sound if you said. Any of you guys wear boots??
I thought by saying cowboy boots it would be obvious I meant specifically cowboy style with the tall heel for securing firmly in a stirrup when riding a horse. Was wondering more if people liked these for working around their properties as well. Not sure how much utility they have aside from just looking good.
I’ve always worn roper style that are typical of work boots but this is my first true cowboy boot.

I work in an office that’s casual. I wear jeans and ariats everyday and have been forever. They last way longer than regular shoes. I buy a new pair about every three years or so.

Wear them almost daily unless I’m at the beach. That’s where I draw the line,
Had them on last night while busting thinset out so today they are looking a little rough.

Slip on boots honestly look stupid. Fat guys can kind of pull them off. Barely

I think tennis shoes on adults look odd if they aren't exercising or something. You're 40 at Costco, not 14 in PE class. But to each their own

I wear them almost every day, and I’m a teacher.
Actually, I don’t wear them when doing outside work or in the shop, I wear work boots.
Why? It’s kind of the style.

Why wear tennis shoes other than playing tennis?
This 100pct. Why is it so many folks wear athletic shoes when they're total couch potatoes? Unless you're headed to the court, take them off. There are plenty of other shoes that are comfortable.

When you say Ariats I don’t think cowboy boots.
I think they're good starter boots. Also not bad on comfort, either. But if you decide you like boots, step up to something old school - Dan Post, Lucchese, Tonys, etc...

It's the same thing. We call them tennis shoes in this part of the South at least.
