Born and raised in New Orleans.. Bought a house and lost it in Katrina.. Had a chance to buy another house in Orleans and decided to move to Jefferson Parish.. Didn't look back.

If you have lived in Orleans or Jefferson Parish your entire life, you are nose blind to the stench of decay of your homeland.

Born and raised in New Orleans, but moved away.

Was just telling my family last night: Until I moved away, I just thought that this is how it is everywhere (HORRENDOUS streets, tons of crime, litter everywhere, etc).

And then you move somewhere else and it's clean, the streets are smooth, and you don't have to worry every time you get out of your car that you'll have a gun to your head. And it really does put into perspective how rough the things that I considered "normal" were.

Yeah same here. shite, I thought BR was another world when I went to lsu in 1998. I was amazed at how clean and nice it was compared to what I was used to. And that was BR.
