Those years were awesome and I saw a ton of good bands. All day festival downtown over 3 days with some decent acts.

Verve Pipe
Chevelle
Filter
Spank the Monkey

They need to do that again

I don't remember The Verve Pipe playing. You might be thinking of Groovin on the Grounds. The first year I saw Chevelle, Hank III, and Filter. The second year I saw Edwin McCain, The Toadies and a little bit of KC and the Sunshine band.

1999 I believe was the first year, I remember if you brought Cole products in you got in for $5

We took the bus from the mall to the event and we're so drunk we started walking back to the mall. Needless to say some friendly people gave us a ride in the back of their truck.

I think it was ‘98 that had the following:

Spank the Monkey
Cowboy Mouth
BTE

Then in ‘99:

Randy Travis
BTE
War
Kool and the Gang
Gap Band
Village People
Buckwheat Zydexo
The Neville Brothers

Baton Rouge actually tried to have a good music festival. That was some fun times.

It was, I feel it only last 3 years then blew up. I mean they had so many different acts and styles of music it made it fun.

IIRC when they saw how popular it was they started charging a lot more, charged for parking, etc. and effectively killed it

Between this and the free concert LSU use to put on each year on the parade grounds, BR had a good music scene. Damn shame they killed all of that

The first time I saw Better Than Ezra was at Bonne Fete. The stage was where the Shaw Center is now on Lafayette Street.

Don't remember the year. I was still in middle school. Maybe 98?

I remember when Jerry Jeff walker played earth day in BR, down town in a parking lot. It was a Sunday afternoon, weather was great and they let you bring your own cold snacks
