Who of you has seen the Windsor Ruins?

Out in the middle of BFE Mississippi sits the ruins of a 23 room plantation that survived the Civil War, only to be destroyed by fire a quarter-century later. All that's left are the pillars and iron work from the upper-level deck.
Pretty neat spot.
The iron staircase leading up to the main entrance survived the fire, but was moved to Alcorn State University nearby.
The site served as an eerie backdrop in the movie "Ghosts of Mississippi" starring Alec Baldwin, James Woods, and Whoopi Goldberg.

Indeed. Stop at the Old Country Store in Lorman for some fried chicken.
And yeah, I've seen the ruins. Grade school field trip, probably 50 years ago. I guarantee not one of us Jackson, MS idiots had any idea what we were looking at.

I hunt about 3 miles from the Ruins. Like another said stop at the Old Country Store and have Mr. D sing for you. If you are passing thru it is an nice stop, but I would not go out of my way.

My wife grew up in Vidalia and she loves going there. She will take anyone and everyone there to show them. But the last time we went they had erected a fence around it to protect it. So you couldn’t walk through it like you used to be able to do.

I’ve been there. It was pretty cool, but I would say, find some other stuff you want to see on the way.

Neat the first time or two. After that you kinda just want Mr. D to STFU and go fry some chicken. Spent a lot of time in that part of the country. Lots of history. Might as well go see the church with the cannon ball stuck in it in Rodney if you go see the Ruins.

If you’re in the area, I recommend checking out Rodney, a ghost town that was at one time being considered to be the MS capital. It used to be a port on the Mississippi, but the river changed course leaving it dry. The old church in town still has a cannonball from a Union gunboat embedded in its wall. The cemetery on the hill above the church is also interesting.
