Went on a random road trip last year to Clarksdale. We carved a spaghetti path all through this area (Port Gibson, Rodney, etc.). Pretty cool to checkout the Ruins and all the other old buildings in that area.

I visited a couple years ago. Pics don’t do the scale of those columns justice. There was something very haunting about the site too.. Enjoyed it.

Check out Rocky Springs as well if you decide to make a day trip.
Fun Fact:

My Sister-in-Law was married in the old Methodist Church in Rocky Springs in 1989.

Unless you’re from Arkansas, I’ve had more fun with my S-I-L than you’ve had with your cousin...

Think Carly Simon back in the day.

They still have service there once a month.

The graveyard is small but worth a walk through. Some interesting epitaphs and sad untold stories.

The pic was taken in winter. Dead kudzu in the washes and pasture on the flats. Likely rye planted for either cows or deer.

In all that time didn't realize there was an old town named Rodney. Assuming it's down in the bottom and not up in the hills? Definitely an interesting area.

It’s on the edge of the hills/bottom. When come out of the hills and hit the stop sign where you would hang a left to go to Rodney lake/Ashland, hang a right. Old church is down there about a mile on the right.

Well probably not any cows then. May even be just natural winter weeds that poke up out of kudzu once its been froze for a while. Speaking of kudzu, I think it would make a great summer food plot for deer. After all it was originally sold as partly a erosion control and as forage for livestock. And the hype about it taking over is really overblown. Glyphos will knock its dick on the dirt if it doesn't behave.

Loaded with deer at night. The steps are connected to a building at Alcorn state. Went there every weekend during deer season.

I also hunt near there, about 4 miles SE right on the Claiborne-Jefferson county line, west of the Trace. Very hilly with many creek bottoms and hardwoods.
